{"id":19005995,"date":"2026-08-29T02:55:20","date_gmt":"2026-08-29T02:55:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/topic\/dark-mode-plugin-specifically-for-generatepress\/"},"modified":"2026-08-29T02:55:20","modified_gmt":"2026-08-29T02:55:20","slug":"dark-mode-plugin-specifically-for-generatepress","status":"publish","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/topic\/dark-mode-plugin-specifically-for-generatepress\/","title":{"rendered":"Dark Mode plugin, specifically for GeneratePress"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;m a fan of GeneratePress, and have built a few busy sites on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I wanted to provide Dark Mode functionality, and so I built this: <a href=\"https:\/\/gpdarkmode.com\/\">https:\/\/gpdarkmode.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;m using it on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegatewaypundit.com\/\">https:\/\/www.thegatewaypundit.com<\/a>&nbsp;(a site that gets millions of daily pageviews), and elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;ve coded it to include the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>basic dark mode styles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>dark mode styles based on global colors defined in the customizer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>dark mode styles for commonly used services (ads, forms, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>dark mode styles generated by AI<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>dark mode styles that are manually added<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I found that this plugin is able to accommodate any GeneratePress-based site&#8217;s idiosyncrasies by systematically working through these different tools to generate dark mode styles. The AI-assisted styling is especially helpful, and then the manual styles are for when you just need to fix something quick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I continue to maintain the plugin, tweaking functionality as needs arise.
