These links are displayed as icons, but they do not have accessible names.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Current behavior: When using a screen reader, the links are only announced as &#8220;Link.&#8221; The screen reader does not tell the user where the link goes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Expected behavior: Each social media link should have an accessible name that identifies its destination, such as &#8220;Link to Facebook&#8221; or &#8220;Link to Instagram.&#8221; This can be fixed by adding an appropriate aria-label each icon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1VcVFZdTE2JAKUZxiOE5aZEPZgakR8KiO\/view?usp=drive_link\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Issue 2: Icons Missing Accessible Names or Decorative Markup<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are additional icons in the UM User Profile plugin that are missing aria-labels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Expected behavior: The icon is only decorative and does not provide any additional information, it should be hidden from screen readers using aria-hidden=&#8221;true&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this case, these icons can be marked as decorative because they do not provide any additional information or functionality for the user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1AOM3W4SHrtlNp9LrA9qdR0El8_Eqw0Vr\/view?usp=drive_link\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Issue 3: Links<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The screen reader also reads the full URL, such as &#8220;www.sitename.com&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can the link be embedded within the relevant text, similar to how the Facebook link is linked? This would make the content shorter and easier for screen reader users to understand and navigate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1tmwUu3d4bMSh1zteiWa65x74NEoVFPyT\/view?usp=drive_link\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-18995845","topic","type-topic","status-publish","hentry"],"jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topic\/18995845","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topic"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topic\/18995845\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=18995845"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
