Could the plugin have an option to add the required first line of &lt;?xml version=&#8221;1.0&#8243; encoding=&#8221;utf-8&#8243;?&gt; to an existing file. It could then check the SVG file, and reject the addition when the SVG was not suitable, and tell the user.
