I am not sure if it is still maintained, but I needed to add a couple of features, so I&#8217;ve forked it. Feel free to reintegrate it if you ever get around to it.<br \/><br \/>One issue is that Advanced Excerpt does NOT work with Query Loop block or Recent Posts block, and fixing that would require a complete refactoring. Instead, I&#8217;ve added support for category filter on &#8220;All Posts&#8221;, which, admittedly, is less versatile, but sufficient for most use cases nonetheless &#8211; just add links to other category archives as menu items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then I added support for shortcode markers that may be placed around some content in order to exclude it from the excerpt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lastly, I&#8217;ve enhanced the excerpt logic to close relevant HTML tags automatically and not break mid-sentence or mid-tag attributes. While modern browsers are very forgiving, some RSS readers are less so. Default option is now end of &#8220;block&#8221;, not end of sentence (or first period after some abbreviation, mistaken for end of sentence &#8211; oh, that was frustrating).
