{"id":18329490,"date":"2025-02-26T10:30:20","date_gmt":"2025-02-26T10:30:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/topic\/filesystem-direct-method\/"},"modified":"2025-02-26T10:59:28","modified_gmt":"2025-02-26T10:59:28","slug":"filesystem-direct-method","status":"publish","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/topic\/filesystem-direct-method\/","title":{"rendered":"Filesystem direct method"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latest version of this plugin enforces <em>define( &#8216;FS_METHOD&#8217;, &#8216;direct&#8217; );<\/em> but we install our plugins using composer and don&#8217;t have write access to the plugin folder once the container is deployed to prevent end users updating plugins and breaking sites etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The plugin throws an exception error without <em>define( &#8216;FS_METHOD&#8217;, &#8216;direct&#8217; );<\/em> which breaks wp-admin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the plugin does not actually need to write to the plugin folder can this be removed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This plugin does not work on our hosting setup because this check is enforced.
