{"id":10940799,"date":"2018-12-03T09:13:35","date_gmt":"2018-12-03T09:13:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/topic\/theme-customizer-preview-grey-despite-untouched-wordpress-installation\/"},"modified":"2018-12-03T09:27:22","modified_gmt":"2018-12-03T09:27:22","slug":"theme-customizer-preview-grey-despite-untouched-wordpress-installation","status":"publish","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/topic\/theme-customizer-preview-grey-despite-untouched-wordpress-installation\/","title":{"rendered":"Theme &#8216;Customizer&#8217; Preview Grey Despite Untouched WordPress Installation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>My Problem:<\/strong> The theme customizer located at \/wp-admin\/customizer.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fexample.com%2F, <a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/g4IlVDS.png\">displays a grey preview<\/a> with the meta title &#8220;Customise: Loading&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>All other functions of my administration area appear to be in perfect working order.<\/p>\n<p>My WordPress installation is up-to-date (4.9.8\u2013en_NZ) and hosted on a DigitalOcean VPS &#8220;droplet&#8221; running on Ubuntu 18.04.1. Earlier today, this website was hosted on Hostinger&#8217;s servers &#8211; the problem persisted then, too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What I&#8217;ve tried thus far:<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; Changing browsers, Opera &lt; &gt; Google Chrome.<br \/>\n&#8211; Clearing my browser cache.<br \/>\n&#8211; Totally resetting the browser (including extensions) just in case it missed something.<br \/>\n&#8211; Connecting via a proxy.<br \/>\n&#8211; Switching hosts entirely, Hostinger &gt; DigitalOcean.<br \/>\n&#8211; Deleting all the default plugins.<br \/>\n&#8211; Deleting all the other default themes, except Twenty Seventeen (default).<br \/>\n&#8211; Shaking my fist angrily at the computer monitor.<br \/>\n&#8211; Watching for errors in the browser console whilst loading the page. <a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/WEUsBba.png\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">These Mixed-content SSL errors are shown, but I somewhat doubt are related<\/a>.<br \/>\n&#8211; Adding the following lines to my wp-config file:<\/p>\n<pre><code>define( &#039;WP_MEMORY_LIMIT&#039;, &#039;256M&#039; );\ndefine( &#039;WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT&#039;, &#039;512M&#039; );<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>&#8211; Changing &#8216;WP_DEBUG&#8217;, false, to &#8216;WP_DEBUG&#8217;, true, and then watching for page errors and inspecting the wp-content directory for a log file (nothing).<br \/>\n&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/BcG3x5Z.png\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Inspecting the memory usage<\/a>.<br \/>\n&#8211; sudo shutdown -r now (after config changes)<\/p>\n<p>This issue has me stumped.
