I've gotta say I've never been a fan of the WP themes, but twentythirteen is fantastic. I am seeing this from a (semi) developer's PoV, however. I like my bundled themes to be easy to create child themes from and this theme is very easy to do that. I'm not a great fan of the coloured page types but that's simple enough to change.
What I like about this most is the simplicity of the design. Stripped back to bare essentials, the user-experience is comfortable and uncluttered. I'm hoping this is indicative of future web design in general, where the emphasis is placed on content, and where design merely assists in the consumption of that content rather than detracting from it.
Nice work, WordPress.
Just deploy my coupons site with this theme. Super fast load with minor modification. Love it much when load by mobile devices.
I am having the same problem with the header image not working on the twenty thirteen theme. To get around it I am using a plugin called "twenty thirteen header animations" - I can only get one header to show although there are 4 images to choose from - I I am not good with PHP. I am also having problems seeing my media library images in the same theme.
Pottering WordPress themes for years now I have started fumbling around with child themes. And this Twenty Thirteen really surprised me. What an awesome starting point to explore.
Like always I am overdoing everything to the point of being merely idiotic instead of delicate. So as a personal playground it will probably not last very long.
Seriously: this really feels like a breath of fresh air. Though I wonder if it will serve its purpose as a default theme.
But this is true: it looks great (cool) on any device.
This is seriously an awesome theme! Great starting off point. I love it! I did notice one thing though, which is a concern. When creating a child theme, something is seriously wrong with the footer.
JS function arranges footer widgets vertically. Calling this is actually causing my footer in child theme to not float properly.
It does not allow the four evenly spaced widgets in the child theme's footer. You'll see that when you go to add the fourth widget, it'll go underneath the other three and look way off.
I've added no custom css or modified the child theme in any way, just a blank child theme of twentythirteen. So something is off in the JS somewhere
Could someone please take a peek at that? :) I love this new theme, it's by far the best WP default theme ever!
Just love it!
When I first saw this theme at its introduction post I had reservations about the sidebar - that was at version 0.1.
A lot of work has gone in to making it better now the sidebar issue is just secondary and can be remedied easily with a child theme.
Talking about child themes, already created one and its going live very soon - so watch out for that :)
Overall, in terms of looks and functionality I don't think the theme can be faulted at all - it's still Bold and Beautiful as it was on its introduction.
So far-so good!
I will create a child theme for Twenty Thirteen and translate it to fa_IR
