Great idea but needs work
By , for WP 3.3

This is a great theme but it tires too easily. This theme allows me to add a post or page but most times while editing the post or page, all of the text to the post or page disappears leaving only the images on the post or page. I usually stop the session because I'm afraid to do a save and lose my text/article. I have to wait until the following day to complete my post because logging in after a few hours on the same day only recreates the no text post or still no text to wark with. What a bomb for such a great theme.

Powerful Theme, but poor support and problems with upgrades
By , for WP 4.5.1

Since the I first adapted this theme, there have been two them upgrades which have resulted in significant changes to display (bootstrap slider, main menu appearance) -- and require substantial developer time to recode and style. The first time I spent hours to restyle slider appearance; but with the most recent upgrade I have given up. I simply do not have time to figure out how to preserve site appearance.

It's a beautiful and powerful theme, but I would advise than anyone who wants to be able to regularly update a theme to stay away--or to at least use a staging site to test and preview any theme upgrades.

I kind have developed a love/hate relationship with this theme.. if I could give it 4.5 stars I would. The theme is exceptionally powerful and customizable ... but its also been a source of frequent frustration to me in the course of development of a site. Several times I have had a problem with display of some element of my site and wrestled for hours looking for a fix, only to find that the solution buried somewhere on the many pages of theme options - an easy switch to solve whatever problem I am having.

So for anyone who plans to do significant customization - rather than a straight, out-of-the-box install -- I recommend that you start by carefully reading through and studying all of Theme Option sections. Chances are, whatever you want to do -- the theme developers have already thought of- but the option might not be listed where you would expect to find it. Not the fault of the developers -- it's just have provided so many more options than most themes that it didn't occur to me to even look for some of these options.

I am tremendously impressed with the options presented in a free theme. No limits whatsoever on font choice, color, sizing, etc.

Not child theme friendly, very sloppy coding, fonts slow down the site
By ,

The theme is written so that even if you're using a child theme (as you're supposed to), it overrides your child theme by adding embedded styles in the head section.

i.e. `<style type='text/css'>

@media (min-width: 1220px) {
.container {
width: 1200px!important;
.menu-back .container {
width: 100%!important;padding-left:0px!important;padding-right:0px!important;`

The header itself ... is a mess. HTML doctype, rather than HTML5, etc. 11 different Javascript files. 11! This is why JQuery was made, to be used as a library so you don't have to call in a dozen different files. Between the JS and the fonts, it takes forever for the page to refresh.

Sad because there are some nice and pretty parts to the theme, but the underlying structure needs some work.

Beware This theme Can Break Your Running Website
By , for WP 3.8.1

This theme looks great that was the reason I chose to use it for my website. But very soon I learned that in every new version this theme breaks something big. Sometime Slideshow will come with half of image going out of box, sometime it becomes impossible to hide Slideshow (yes it has happened in one update), changing color and size of font is also a common issue and in latest update now they have set thumbnail size of 680x330 for featured images on your home screen and it can not be changed through settings. My whole website is screwed and now I have to remove featured images till i find a fix for this issue.
So either ignore this theme or do not update it otherwise you may be left with a broken website. God knows if they even test their own theme or not.

Still some issues that should be worked out
By , for WP 3.8.1

I really like the Evolve theme and have been using is on one of my hosted sites already. After I created a new site and have downloaded the latest version of the theme. I have been having trouble removing the carousel slider from my home page. I have tried going to the settings and making it so that there is no header but after saving those settings it is still there. I have also tried adding something else to the header in the place of it and it is still there. I am going to try downloading an older version to see if I have better luck with the look I want. Other than that, I really enjoy the theme.

Nice looking but not flexible, not very customizable
By , for WP 3.8

Extremely hard to modify, very little customizing options to play with. Not recommended if you like to customize a lot of things on the original template design.

Evolve - how I wish I could change it
By ,

I worked very hard getting Evolve looking jus tthe way I wanted. Now I wish I had used a different theme with more widget areas, more customizable areas and one I could make a child-them from without it crashing or looking like c#@p.

When I get more time I will re-do this site, get away from Evolve and never looked back. It is not a bad theme if you want something simple - very simple. But there are very simple themes that are much easier to work with and get better support. If you want support for Evolve from the developer - good luck.
