I saw a couple bad reviews in here, so I felt the need to chime in...
I think people tend to forget that the developer has a life outside of Decode. He's a kid, who probably has school work and a social life. He's not working 40hrs a week on Decode for a living. He's doing it in his free time, and giving it away, for free. Don't expect him to drop everything he's doing and make his theme compatible with some obscure formatting change you're trying to make. If you think you can do better, teach yourself HTML and CSS and help the dev out, instead of posting here complaining about how poor the support is.
I've been using Decode for a few months now, and like others, have run into my share of issues. Every time I've posted in the support forum or messaged the dev, I've received nothing but good support and feedback from the both the dev and the community.
Thank you for the great, free theme and for continuing to support it as much as you can.
Had such high hopes of this template, spent quite a bit of time on my site. The spacing and size of elements are ridiculously large. Tried to obtain some support from the author, took quite a few days to hear back from him and when i finally did was given a poor response and lack of interest in helping any further.
My main concern was trying to have a fixed side bar, it is NOT possible to do this using the decode template.
Disappointed to have wasted so much time on this and have an unsable product - go elsewhere!
I am so grateful that the author generously provided this for free
This is a wonderful theme, I really love this theme. I run this theme in my two blogs. But I am facing a slight issue with respect to images.
1. photogeneblog.org - the images are responsive and comes to full width
2. foodeverywhere.in - the images are shrinked!
Can anybody help me to sort out this?
I enjoy using this theme... not something I can say too frequently.
Great theme. Elegant, simple, customizable. Just what I was looking for, and it has plenty of social options too. The developer is pretty responsive and open to feedback as well.
Was referred to this theme by a friend to test it out on a client project. Set it up offline, made it live and we were about to hand over the keys to the client until we discovered some issues with the theme... and how it is advertised (which is really why I gave it 1 star.)
Mobile first? I pray to God you guys didn't actually design this first on mobile. On a couple of devices it was very laggy, would freeze, be choppy, or glitchy, and one simply didn't work at all. Test first and *FIX the load times!*
Now your thinking "duh, it's your internet!" It was tested on high speed wifi, as well as 4g, 3g, etc.
I am just really mad I wasted so much time. I have now switched to a different theme for the project. Please test the themes via multiple devices, and if your going to advertise "mobile first," design it on mobile devices first, if you did not.
This is the best theme I found for my site.
It's so simple, and has so many options inside that will allow you to customize it the way you want.
Use it, You won't regret it.
I was able to install it and use it in 5 minutes. What else can i ask?😉
**updated from a 1 star rating;
If you have trouble with the social options, check if it is asking for a username, if you are entering a page and it asks for user name, cut and paste the URL after the .com/
Example URL: https://vimeo.com/channels/okinawasurf
Vimeo Username: channels/okinawasurf
Previous 1 Star Rating:Seems like a simple feature to make work. Probably doesn't deserve a 1 star over this but I'm giving up on this theme over it. Developer should be using direct URLs for social, not login/usernames.
