Biggest load of SPAM I have ever downloaded. Installed and activated the app and key pages in the backend went blank/white - such as the 'installed plugins' page and others - basically any page that you could look at removing the plugin. So I had to log into an FTP client and change the name of the plugin folder to stop it working so that it would deactivate, so I could then delete the app. Went to delete the app and a clever bit of programming selected all the plugins on actioning this and asked me if I wanted to delete all. So again I went to the FTP client to remove the plugin folder. My advice, don't download!
The plug-in error is probably a result of a conflict with another plug-in as I can see from the reviews that most people get it working. After I installed and activated this plug-in, my website no longer showed any content on either the front or the back-end (wp-admin pages). I had to go in through ftp and rename the folder to deactivate it, and I then uninstalled the plug-in.
Please take my review for what it is: One person's experience, and since it did not even work, I could not give it any other rating.
However, I also acknowledge the time that programmers put into developing these plugins, and as there are soooo many wordpress plugins I can see how conflicts like this can easily happen.
Generally, when I look for plugins, I look at the one-star ratings and base my decision on the developer's responses. If they engage, then they care. And were I to rate this plugin on that criteria, the developer of YOP would receive a much higher rating.
Should really consider simplicity! May be full of options but too much just to get a simple poll up! uninstalled!
The plugin only allows a one question poll unless you upgrade for $17.
Installation went fine but for example the widget is not coded to WordPress standards. Font sizes are quite different. Poll width is only 200 Pixels where as it should be auto to the parent container.
Thankfully it does remove its database entries on uninstall and there are quite a few of them for such a simple application.
Conceptually its not bad, however in practice of attempting use it the plugin is near useless. Perhaps it was written long before recent versions of WordPress.
The whole idea of WordPress is not to be constrained. If the plugin adhered to very simply standards (styling should always be nothing essentially or at least optional) it might be good, not $17 good but good.
It is also nagware constantly popping up a window with a modal box talking about the Pro Version. Funny that the Modal actually looks better than the plugin.
won't even add a new poll says no archive URL entered when it doesn't even have a field to add that!
ask for too many options to do something as simple as adding a new poll
Triggered a bunch of fatal errors, can't activate it, can't delete it. Definetely not happy with it
This plugin is poorly developed. It creates loads of database tables which is not the best way. And every time I update the plugin, I find I have lost my UI formatting.
This time, however, the icing is on the cake as I have also lost all my data (questions, answers, votes) so I've finally had enough and will continue my search for a properly developed poll plugin.
Update: I have now tried the "WP-Polls" plugin and it seems a lot better. The admin UI looks more robust and it doesn't create any extra database tables. I haven't had opportunity to update the plugin yet, but the results cannot be any worse than for this YOP poll plugin.
This plugin is useless without upgrade. It does not come with templates at all and cannot be used without, forcing you to buy the professional version. When you do buy the professional version, it continues to be useless because of poor design. Avoid!
I would have rated this plugin 0 stars, if it was possible. Don't waste your time with this poll plugin. It's setup to drive you to buy a pro version. The plugin has templates to customize the look of your poll, but every one of them are unavailable with the standard version. The default gives you a totally unstyled poll. There is no default templates for free. The sad thing is I would have likely upgraded if it had a decent default look but because all the templates were pro version only I ended up removing it from my system. Save your time and keep looking;
"This is not the poll plugin for you," said in my best Jedi voice...
Who writes all those enthusiastic fake reviews praising that awesome support?
They all mention some initial problems which were all solved almost immediately - and those issues - of course - are normal for a software kind. Others are exciting how easy it is to use this software, and it's the best... and and and... whow!
C'mon guys do you really need that?
I upgraded from 4.x to 5.x and now I can see I have had earlier polls but are unable to view, edit or analyse them. I can't even see results/votes. What's going on?
This version is totally unusable in its "free" edition.
Guys, thanks for makeing fun of everyone who already used this plugin.
