This seemed like a great plugin, but the complete code rewrite meant that everything I had created broke when I updated the plugin to the shiny new version. I grumbled and fixed it, and accepted that I should have read the update notes first. Then a few weeks later my client updated the plugin and the widget lost all the styling again. I'm not going through this mess a third time; I'll just use another plugin. I've lost too much trust in this one. It would have been better to write the new version from scratch and advise people to switch plugins.
I prefer the previous version, as it handled the hidden fields better by default making them hidden, less work.
Baffling that they failed to include the simple boolean using MailChimp's API to make a simple request for a welcome email. That's different than double-opt-in, of course. What were they thinking?
