Looks good but only very basic in Free version
By , for WP 4.1.1

I have installed this plugin after testing User Role Editor by Vladimir Garagulya - this only had very limited functionality. I saw that on the WP Symposium Pro pages that examples showed the "ROLES" plugin. Great I thought! Unfortunately all the functionality I need to work with my other "Open Source" plugins is a premium purchase - (Upgrade to Pro). I am very disappointed with this as I am developing an Open Source educational WordPress site that has no funding whatsoever and exists merely on interest and personal effort. I have to make sure this is purely Open Source and can be maintained by the establishment without cost in future.
See the list below for my "Moderator" role which is missing the ability to moderate with Knowledgebase and Forums.

Knowledgebase (kbe-knowledgebase)
Uses 'Posts' capabilities. Upgrade to Pro to customize capabilites.

Alerts (wps_alerts)
Uses 'Posts' capabilities. Upgrade to Pro to customize capabilites.

Friendships (wps_friendship)
Uses 'Posts' capabilities. Upgrade to Pro to customize capabilites.

Activity (wps_activity)
Uses 'Posts' capabilities. Upgrade to Pro to customize capabilites.

Posts (wps_forum_post)
Uses 'Posts' capabilities. Upgrade to Pro to customize capabilites.

I am not criticising plugin authors for wanting to make a profit for their work (everyone has to eat) but installing and running an Open Source framework like WordPress is extremely disappointing when one finds that many authors are enticing you to spend and upgrade by offering a really good product then finding it only has really limited functionality beyond the title page. This goes against the whole idea of Open Source. I am doing my bit by implementing the site without charge and I have personally donated the 1st Year Domain name and Godaddy hosting.

What I've been looking for

I've been searching for a better user role plugin! Easy to use with a lot of options.

Excellent User Role Editor

Great plugin. Very easy to use interface. Way beter than that older 'User Role Editor' by Vladimir Garagulya.

Props for the good work!

Great Plugin

Just installed the PRO-Version, which is a great improvement to the one that my client was currently using. I like a lot. It was very easy to understand and to setup for each user. Highly recommended.

Great Plugin, but with superflous role permissions showing
By , for WP 4.1

Just installed the PRO-Version, wich I like a lot. However, there's an issue that I think must be resolved: Editors, Author and the like see the role permissions in the "View All Posts". This Column usually doesn't contain any data required for the before mentioned roles so that column is superflous.

Nice and flawless, perfectly integrated.

Really nice and flawless, perfectly integrated with WordPress admin. I like that Primary Roles and Secondary Roles are separated. Well done.

A bit unexpected that the Assign / Migrate page is under the default Users menu instead of under the special Roles one.

Really appreciated the row with secondary roles at the bottom of a user profile.

Great support

Just getting started on using the Personal Pro version of the plugin. The plugin installed ok, but it wouldn't let me activate the license. It kept telling me I didn't have sufficient permissions. (Ironic, in light of this plugin.)

Syam got back to me right away and did troubleshooting on our site personally. (What worked for us was to install the free version first and then upgrade.) I really appreciated Syam's kind and prompt attention.

Awsome

Syam Mohan Plugins
By , for WP 4.0.1

3 plugins created by Syam Mohan, and 3 plugins present on my website!
I made a small donation to Syam Mohan. We all make a donation, the cost of a cup of coffee, that's right.

Nice plugin
