Very good plugin.
I am bascially looking to scrap data live form pages using jquery. though i dont know coding, i started scraping and getting a bit of it by kimono app. before it shutdown i neede to switch and so I got into data scraping studio to get json files.
But thought scraping directly from web to wordpress would be better,
But the coding is tougher than both i used earlier. tutorials arent available properly.
Mostly annoyng as no visual clues before importing.
I've been looking into web parsing solution for quite a while now and when I stumbled upon this plugin, it really cheered me up since I didnt have to fiddle with much code or anything to achieve what I wanted. This plugin does exactly exactly what it says. And the support from the developer is very good; best I've ever seen.
Considering what this plugin does, I would discount some of the negative reviews. First off, because of the many situations web scraping must accommodate, this is not a simple click and you-re done plugin. Can't be. For a very reasonable fee, the author helps with the coding for your project. You can poke around and figure it out too, but that's where you could get frustrated. Perhaps, in the spirit of open source, this author could make the plugin generate the clues to restrict the scrape to the content you want, but for now, I don't think it's unreasonable. It does a great job and is very flexible. The author made a special revision for my situation which involved scraping a site that redirects to a dynamic address. Works great. I havent found the issues with high overhead yet, but I will update the review if I do.
Good plugin: one has to struggle a bit to get it working, espcially in ordr to to get content updated.
Uses too many resources and slows down performance.
And looking at all unanswered topics on the forum page, I cannot rely on this plugin.
what a great plugin.
Install, setup and made some first steps - this is the way we wish to have and here it worked in that way. So no wishes rest to make it better ;-)
But some ideas how to grown up or make it a little bit more comfortable and also a little more examples, like the users has to have in his practice - but he supports any questions on his own web and there where the plugin described.
But attention: at the moment (January 2014) you will received a white Page after submitted your comment. But it looks like as it sends. A page relaod will shown "double content" and i think it is a good sign ;-)
I hope he will solve this and wish all the best for this nice little peace of clean, well structured and professional programming art. Respect!
It can take down your hosting account by increasing your database size to monstrous proportions.
The developer hasn't provided a solution yet, check this thread:
