Be careful with this one. I installed on another site with success. Then used it on a different client's site and the site crashed. So I deactived, still had a dead site. I used FTP access to remove the plugin -still crashed. Followed the readme.txt instructions under "If all else fails" and it still was down, including my dashboard access. I ended up copying site files from a backup - thank you backupwordpress! - and it's fine.
After 2 hours of problems, I wanted to take an extra 2 minutes to warn people. I am not an expert at WP but not a newbie.
The ability to pre-load the cache was extremely useful. But any editing activity now seems to wipe the entire cache. And even without editing, the cache seems to disappear rapidly.
Without pre-loading, infrequently visited pages will only cache when someone first visits (ie they won't get a cached version) and this cache may then expire before the next person visits, (so they won't get a cached version either).
Sadly although new versions keep appearing, none seem to address this problem which has been going on for several months. And the authors no longer seem to offer any support.
Preload is broken. No support in the forum anymore.
Better get another cache plugin. Not worth the hassle!
I uninstalled this plugin and it took down my website. For some reason remove the opening PHP tag within my wp-config.php file.
Very tough to install and uninstall. Doesn't take off HTML files. It affects Google's crawlers and took off my site from the search engine. Even after the plugin has been uninstalled with great difficulty, can't take off the html tags that it had generated.
I've had nothing but issues with this plugin ever since I've installed it. Bogs down my site and breaks the front end updating. Even after I uninstalled the plugin it was still causing my site not to update on the front end. My web host techs had to manually uninstall lines of code which still pointed to Super Cache plugin. Do yourself a favor and avoid the headaches this plugin causes.
I have a site with 17000 posts, and created preload super cache about 10hours. I waited for 10 hours, until the plugin cache for the post by post, but when preload is finish, files in super cache was removed for unknown reasons
Why I waited 10hours?
I do not get this plugin to work. After pressing TEST it keep telling that the timestamps of 1.html and 2.hrml do not match. Indeed, the is 3 seconds difference while files size is identical.
No other caching is done.
There are no cache pages created in the supercache folder.
This plugin did not work with the default installation. Not after reinstall wordpress, not after clean cache, remove and reinstalling this plugin.
So i'm gone.
Tried using it. Didn't speed up my website but instead slowed it down along with a bunch of other plugins. I ran P3 profiler and found the plugins that were slowing things down & deleted them.
Now my website runs super quick. See this post for more details [Link redacted]
Supercache cache'd Virus !! So my Hosting provider temporary blocked Hosting Port 80/443, which resulted in Dead wordpress !!
I deleted my plugin and now my website got restored !!
I love the performance of SuperCache but this incident lead to deletion of this plugin.
