Indispensable
By , for WP 4.2.1

Plugins don't often motivate me to write reviews, but this one definitely deserves it.

I struggled with spam for ages, and wasted countless hours trying different solutions and cleaning out spam.

Other plugins I tried either didn't work, or they generated too many false positives. This plugin worked immediately, with no configuration at all. I get very occasional spam signups, but nothing like I did before. There are no problems with false positives or legitimate users being punished.

Even better, it's completely transparent to the website user. There's no captcha, extra validation or anything like that.

To conclude, if I were to set up another WP site, this plugin would be an essential inclusion. Get it!

My Go-to Spam Filter
By , for WP 4.1.3

This anti-spam plugin came preloaded when I purchased a new hosting account and I'm sincerely glad I found it. It's the only one I use on any site I build and I haven't had any issues with it. Nice to have one less thing to worry about.

Excellent!

Hello, I use this plugin to stop spam from contact form ;)

Saved me SO MUCH TIME!

I was getting hit by 40+ spam registrations and comments per day. This plugin is amazing! It has caught over 1000 in less than 2 weeks. Only a couple of sly ones snuck through, but easy enough to take care of. Well worth donating to the developer as well. Thank you so much!

Do NOT use with WooCommerce

If you use WooCommerce with product variations, this plugin will remove your Add to Cart button. If you don't use WooCommerce, I'm sure you'll be fine. =)

Extremely Effective

I usually use Antispam Bee and it does a pretty decent job. On a recent project, where a website was migrated from a WordPress.com hosted blog to a self-hosted blog, the site was just getting hammered with spam so I decided to try WP-SpamShield.

It's like magic... it just freaking works. In the 2 days since this has been installed it's caught 642 legitimate spam comments and kept it off the site (verified by viewing the Comment Log file).

I'll definitely be using this plugin in the future.

Kudos to the development team you guys rock!

I love this plugin

I am running a fairly new WP site and I was allways scared about these ignorant people enjoing spamming. (past experience with other websites)
After trying an other plugin which did not prevent registration spams I installed WP Spamshield. It was so quiet on my site, so I got worried about blocking valid registrations. Tried to catch the Spam records but was allways late or maid a mistake. Now I caught records and was surprised how good Spamshield works.
Now I love to have not so much registrations but I know they are valid ones.
This is obviously a very usefull PlugIn.
Thanks to the developer.

Excellent plugin with personal support

This plugin is really the only one that works efficiently regarding spam filtering without requiring any input by the user.
Definitely superior to all other solutions, especially CAPTCHAS.
I've been using it on multiple sites and it is currently blocking >200 spam comments every day (!) on a community site without ever causing any false-positives.

One thing I want to highlight is the excellent support I received. Scott replied instantly, analyzed my problem and even provided a fixed php file once we realized that a tiny detail was missing regarding translation management. I've never encountered a free plugin with such dedicated support.
