The Pro Version Does NOT work
By , for WP 4.1.1

The WPMU plugins unfortunately follow the wrong policy of over-promising and under-delivering. I tried the pro membership for about 2 weeks. Their support never responded to my inquiries bearing in mind I had the premium membership that cost north of $500 per year. I only tried to use the WP Smush Pro, they claim ">60%" reduction, I got 0.17%.

Emailed support 3 times. After waiting for 2 weeks with no answer back from Support, I went on Paypal and filed a claim to get my money back. Only then they replied.

I would stay away from WPMU. They made thing look professional on their website but when it comes to reality, in my case, I got way below what was promised.

Free vs Paid model
By , for WP 4.2.1

Thanks to WPMU Dev for ensuring this plugin has been kept alive, it works great and does what it says on the tin!

There are some restrictions with the free version You can not smush files over 1MB and you are restricted to 50 images per request which isn't too much of a bother.

However I personally would like to upgrade to the Pro version to unlock the additional features, but to do this I would need WPMU Dev's $99/month subscription... which is a rather extortionate price to a blogger, especially as that's the only plugin I want.

Would be much nicer if they did this as a separate product or returned to their "You either pay the subscription to unlock everything or buy each plugin for $19 outright". If that was the case I would upgrade today.

Works smoothly for now

Thanks for keeping the service alive, even at your expense.

Seems to work fine for now.

2 useful additions could be:

  • Bulk smush it action in the media library. Useful when someone wants to smush 20-30 images but not their whole library
  • Option to also smush the original files. It can be opt-out by default. Usefull for those who would like to save the extra space

Good work!

New update causes lots of errors
By , for WP 4.1.1

in_array() expects parameter 2 to be array, null given in /home/__/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/includes/common/functions.php on line 1446

cause w3total cache to throw errors

everything resolved when removing this plugin. Looks like the last update broke it.

Thank you for your efforts

On a behalf of entire Jigoshop team, I would like to say thank you for all the efforts that you have put into this plugin. Despite recent changes with yahoo service WPMU DEV team has kindly allowed all the users to use their own servers to reduce size of images.

Our team has an extensive experience in Linux administration, security and PHP development. Please let us know if we can contribute somehow to this project.

Not Working Anymore
By , for WP 4.1.1

According to Plugin Installation Info, it doesn't work any more. Do not install. Waste of time.

this plugin doubled the load time of my site after smushing images :( (increased load time by 9 seconds)

Works well for me
By , for WP 4.1.1

I know there's been a few recent changes, but this plugin has always worked well for me and drastically reduces my image size and reduces the bloat/strain on my site. I hope they get the Yahoo issue fixed soon but nonetheless I'm willing to accept the 90% discount.

Force you to go Pro
By , for WP 4.1.1

My customer just added this to their site. Upon updating the plugin today, it claims that Yahoo isn't supporting the free service anymore and that they're working on another solution. In the interim, they're offering a 90% discount for users to go to the Pro version, which is a monthly, never-ending subscription.

Not cool...in the interim a fix should free, or this plugin should be removed and sold only as a pro version.

I'm not against paid plugins - not at all. But they just need to be straightforward about it.

Free version aint working

Sorry, but it just not doing what it should. If the service is unavailable it will break uploading and leave you with unusable images.

WPMU are trying to move users to their Pro version, but I'm not convinced it is worth it.
