WP Mobile Detect by Jesse Friedman creates an easy way for the User Admin to control when content is shown or hid based on visitor device or operating
Very good plugin!
Detects every device (tablet / phone / desktop) in the right way. Both, shortcodes and functions do their job. *thumbs up* Simply what I was looking for!
Sometimes I don understan WP core developers, and the extramly poor is_mobile() is a great example for something useless. Howdy WordPress! Who wanna see a big ios button on the Samsung Galaxy tablet?
So you need a better detection. And this plugin provides that.
This plugin is using php-mobile-detect, The lightweight PHP class for detecting mobile devices (including tablets) and I been using that script for a long time, outside the WordPress area.
I did some test of other plugins before I was going to develope my own, based on the script mention above. None actually filled the simpleness and stable of what I needed. Except for this one, Hmmm this might be a good solution - then I read that this was build on my old favorite script.
I only miss the auto class naming of each device setup like is-desktop class in the body tag, but ya can add easy your own function for that.
A tip, when using this kind of plugin, always make a if (function exsists) call, so your theme doesnt break when Not using mobile detection later on, for some reaason.
Well done, works well, and needed.
One request - to further split iPhone [pre and post iOS 6] for "Apple maps" V's "Google maps" reasons
Makes responsive specific use cases a breeze!
This bad-boy is perfect. Exactly what I needed and a massive time saver! nicely done.
Tested on win 7 laptop and mobile devices Huawei and Samsung on Android.
With the new shortcodes you can direct your visitors to almost any platform/device and serve them your tailored content. Easy to use - just add shortcodes!
Very, very useful. Excellent candidate for official absorption into WordPress codebase, especially with the ubiquity of a vast array of device types, OSes, browsers, and screen sizes, which is ever more diverse with the boom in smartphones and tablets. Waiting eagerly for shortcode additions for "is ios?", "is android?", etc.!
It is an easy to use plugin and it really does what I want.
