Allows a simple interface to hide your site behind a nicely laid out splash page. The settings do not offer very many options. But on the other hand it makes it straightforward and easy to set up.
The detail that puts me off the most is that I am limited to filtered HTML for the content field. No iframes or scripts allowed. The next time I need a maintenance plugin I will try another one.
Unfortunately the splash page doesn't work, and the plugin just sends a generic 503 HTTP response, so visitors see "The service is unavailable" and nothing else.
So it's good to keep search engines from crawling the site during maintenance, but it's not very visitor-friendly. I suppose I'll give it a 2/5 because it does actually put it into maintenance mode, but it doesn't deliver as promised. None of the splash pages actually load.
Everything works just fine!
Nice plugin, works very well now. We'll add a few features in a few weeks!
For some reason MySQL (5.5.31 on Debian Wheezy) was crashing after a few minutes upon activating the plugin. Might be a conflict issue.
Other plugin with similar functionality does not trigger this crash.
Except for this everything seemed to be working fine.
Also, it was mentioned before, not sure if leaving a link with icon by default is a good practice. Most of included CSS styles indeed aren't too attractive, yet default one is simplistic enough and looks fine.
Good plugin, but have a lot to get better. Counter not working with wp 3.9.1. Most styles are very child like ... need to mature. Need it´s own configuration screen, apart from plugins interface. But it´s a good one, solves an important problem. Oh! One last thing. To put links at the front end to the developer site (with icons!) is very unfair. Why on earth the developer customer will care about a wp plugin dev site? They don´t even know what is wordpress. Ads should be restricted to the back end.
I was looking for a temporary maintenance notice for my new wordpress site and I found this one to be ideal. I have been testing it on a localhost installation first before uploading it to my actual site. It does the job well
The plugin provide a simple way to turn on maintain mode on yoursite. It will be better if you focus more in template and setting page
Many thanks for the author as the plugin is simply work "out-of-box".
I've used this plugin on four sites (WP 3.3, 3.4, 3.5 & 3.9.1) and it works perfectly! Thank you very much for this plugin!
