I'm using the Pro version of the plugin and really appreciate all the features. The option to create polylines is great! The interface is a bit complex to hand over to clients. The developer provided me with a version that was better suited for mobile devices. Thanks for the support! I would love to see these changes baked into the production version.
I like the ease of use and flexibility of this plugin.
Support has been great!
I use the Pro version and would recommend it.
Good Plugin, translations could be better.
The plugin is very easy to use and looks great on any and all pages. It simply does what you're looking for. I had a problem with a Google Maps API conflict - another plugin is also loading the API and it was causing this plugin to fail to load maps, especially on mobile devices. I contacted the developer who immediately fixed the problem by making changes on my site to the other plugin. Everything works now, but when the other plugin gets updated, I will have to contact the developer of this plugin to fix the problem again. Not ideal. He has put a fix on the development schedule.
This map program is better compared to another map plug-in I had. This one allows to search via a category and those categories can overlap. The search box is above the map where as the other program has the box covering part of the map. The info window for each location has a link option, where as the other program required me to insert an image button with code for a link.
Some major improvements I see needed include, the map listings view called Carousel has a bug in which certain browsers will not load the page, including if you connect to the website via a Facebook link.
Also when searching by zip code or town name, not every location shows up. The mile radius need to be moved out farther from 1 mile to 2 or 3 miles to capture all of the locations. I am assuming the map is using the center of town as the starting point, rather than a true search field and capturing everything with these location parameters.
As far as support, I have got quick assistance on little fixes or changes, but the items I have listed above have still not bee resolved and it has been almost two months. I have even offered to pay to have these items to be corrected, however I am always told they are short on staff.
This plugin, once upgraded to the pro version, does exactly what I needed. It's easy to set up and use. I'm very glad I found it. Tech support has a longer turn around than I expected (about 24 hours because of time zone differences) but otherwise, this is definitely a good, useful, user friendly plugin.
We were contracted to take over a WP redesign project after the original developer bailed. This developer had created their own mapping element using...flash! Oh my, yes. We did not want to write our own module from scratch if we didn't have to, plus, the client was anxious to get their project back on track and live ASAP. We searched around and found WPGMaps and for the most part it fit the bill. We had to tweak it a bit and figure out how to adapt our unique data points into their structure, but over all the client is happy and we are happy. The plugin works well on desktop display and responsively on smaller formats too. You can see the final implementation in action at http://www.campusdining.net/clients
I'm very impatient with plug-ins and want something to work easily, quickly and the first time out. I don't want to invest much learning time before I see positive results. This delivers nicely and as I get further into the nuts and bolts, it does not disapoint.
I downloaded this plug-in, on the recommendation of another user, I purchased the pro version for the extra functions. Almost immediately I was having a problem getting my maps to link into my site.
Living in Australia there was a time lag using the support email system, which to be honest I found a little frustrating. On the other hand the issue was resolved with a few emails and a couple of days.
In relation to the map plug-in itself, it's easy to use, functional and most importantly simple to customise your maps through icons and poly lines. I would give WP Maps a 5 star rating if it had worked out of the box. I think it's good value for money.
A comment to the developer, a polygon line with an arrow head indicating direction would be a bonus and something I think a lot of users would find useful.
UPDATE TO THIS REVIEW: I bought the plugin in July 2015. It worked well out of the box, but when I attempted to install a Google Maps overlay (KML file) to show state and county lines, it did not work. So I contacted support, and they immediately looked into it, confirming that it didn't work. On 8/30/2015 they said they were going to add it to their development schedule, which is great. To be fair, I certainly don't expect them to change the plugin just for me, or to do so within a six week period. However, after several requests for a status report over the past six weeks, I have not heard back from them at all. It would be nice just to get at least one reply to reassure me and my client (who is waiting for that additional functionality) that the WPGMaps folks are still working on my issue. No reply (silence) is worse than a brief reply that says, in effect, "be patient, we're still working on it" or "the changes won't be ready for two years." If I knew one way or the other, I could make a decision about how best to proceed. Still a good plugin, but it seems like their support trails off after a while...
I bought the Pro version of this plugin on a recommendation from a friend/developer. It's working great! As with anything new, you have to figure a few things out, which I've been doing on the fly. However, when I've had questions, I submitted them and got a reply within 24 hours, except for weekends, when it took a little longer (I don't begrudge anyone a weekend off!). I'm working on outlining my state using the Polylines feature, and it too is working great, although it's a little time consuming. At first I entered my data manually, but then downloaded it so I could manipulate it via Google Docs, as recommended, doing global search/replace feature to add and other HTML tags. I then uploaded the data via the edited csv file and it's working well. I also was able to resize the info boxes so all my info fits so it stands out. I am very happy with this tool and highly recommend it.
