I had this plugin running on a client site. On the surface it works well. However, a couple of weeks ago all of the content disappeared. The template was still there, but when you attempt to go to any page, including the homepage, it returns a 404 'not found' error.
The first time this happened I restored the database using WP DB Manager. Worked fine - the content came back, everyone was happy. Then a few hours later the content disappeared again. Restored the database again, and all was good. Just to be sure though, I did a fresh install of everything - WordPress, the theme, and created a new database.
It was fine for a few days, until yesterday when the content disappeared again. After some investigation we found that the WP DB Manager plugin had broken the wp_posts table in the database. Repairing it via phpMyAdmin fixed it.
I have now uninstalled this plugin, and am searching for a more reliable one. The convenience of managing it through the WP Dashboard is great, but if it can't be trusted I think it's better to just run manual backups via phpMyAdmin (it's not that hard. (there's even a guide in the codex).
I ran the REPAIR feature and this plugin brought down my site. Bad plugin.
This is a great simple and convenient way to backup / restore wp db from within the wp dashboard
We optimized our database with this one and the site seems faster now.
I have implemented wp-DB Manager plugin on localhost. It is giving an error like mysqldump path, mysql path saying path doesn't exist.
Here is the path which i get on istalling the plugin:
I am not able to back up the database due to invalid path existence. please help me out.
I was able to fully optimize my site's databases with this plugin. Well done!
It wants me to move .htaccess to another folder because my back ups may be public. There is only one problem The file doesn't exist in the directory it is insisting the file is in.
I deleted the plug in. I'll find something else.
Great work Lester thanks for a fab plugin.
Installation easy and works perfectly!
I just screwed my site an hour ago and on the verge of contacting my host and I remembered I can easily restored database created from this plugin. And yeah, it did. Merci!
