An improved database layer for WordPress
Thanks, Marko, for this plugin. You should have 1 million + downloads per month if people knew how important is to make use of the PDO driver.
WP at 4.2.3 and core is still using deprecated mysql driver!
Big thanks for this awesome plugin, stumbles upon it in trac discussion and it was just what I needed.
Updated my Kubuntu today and with it came PHP 5.5, which of course throws deprecation error about mysql_. I did not want to mess with the downgrade so I looked for a plugin solution instead, and voila, here it is :)
Once again, thanks
I had set up a brand new server with no idea at the time that PHP 5.5.x wasn't really supported in WordPress 3.6.x. This plugin not only works great on multiple sites where I use it, including older sites that I migrated to this new server, but it's pretty straight forward and simple to set up.
Big kudos to the author for making this functionality available in a non-patch format after the patch failed to make it into WP 3.6. Having this as a plugin is very valuable because it avoids having to make changes to the WP core that could break when WP itself gets updated.
The only reason I'm not rating this 5/5 stars is because I had to get the version of the plugin from the author's GitHub site since plugin version 1.3 throws a lot of errors with WP 3.6-RC2. However, the version from the author's GitHub site works perfectly.
Edit: 5 stars for version 1.4 of the plugin.
WordPress 3.6-beta4-24523, IIS7, PHP 5.4.16, PDO + mysgli + mysql, mysql 5.5.27, WP_DEBUG:
No errors logged or visible on a small, single test site with few plugins.
Thank you for making this plugin. I really look forward to be running the latest PHP without deprecation warnings.
Will continue testing this plugin on LAMP, multisite, PHP 5.5, without PDO and/or mysqli, lots of common plugins and with a lot of posts and traffic.
If I find issues I will report on the support forum here.
Update, version 1.3: This is now excellent!
