Your plugin saved me
By , for WP 4.0

I had a client on WP 3.0! And I needed to upgrade them to 4.0. I used your plugin to clone their 3.0 site to a 4.0 install so I could test it and figure out how to upgrade it. You were the only easy reliable plugin I could find that worked with their old installation. And it was just as easy and reliable as advertised.

The only note that I would make to users going between different servers is that the http clone did not work for me in cloning to a different server. But I found a support thread that advised ftping the zip file to the new server and then revising the URL to point to the new file on the new server. That worked like a charm. It took me longer to download and upload the file than actually clone and restore it.

It was just as easy as promised and worked just as effectively. Thank you!!!!

Wow. No idea how it does it, but the plug-in copied...

my site and moved it (all 295 mbs of it) in two minutes. All the links work. Everything.

Perfect work, guys. Thanks!

Simply works!

Have been using this for a while and it just works. Simple, straightforward and it gets the job done without fuss. From local development to deployment, haven't had an issue, and continues to do the job with 4.0. Love it.

Awesome Sauce!

This plugin saved my life. At first I was scared because it took a really long time to back up my site, but finally 660MB back up was created and later I have succesfully restored it in another domain. Perfect!

Amazing Plugin

I was able to transfer the site and theme settings with ease. I have done this in the past and it has always taken 30+ minutes. This plugin took me less than 5 minutes to transfer a site. It updated the domain urls, image urls and everything from my dev url to my main url. AMAZING!!! Recommended to anyone. I move at least 10 wordpress sites a month from a dev url to a production url. This will save so much of my time.

I am so in love with WP Academy right now!

This is absolutely amazing! Saved me hours of work. I think it must be important to use it for its intended purpose - small site cloning and backup (preferably on the same host?). I installed and customized over several hours a WP site for a client, installing a number of addons to a theme (tedious), etc. before the client went it to add content. I could then clone this initial set up to another domain (same server on hostgator) in minutes. Only one surprise during my first use that I did not anticipate, though it's completely predictable, of course: it didn't occur to me that I would have to log in to the new site with the old site's login. Since I have LastPass logging in automatically, there was a few minutes of confusion while I disabled LastPass, got the login for the old site, then had to go in and change the user from the old site's info to one appropriate for the new client. WPClone saved a great deal of tedious labor installing all the necessary addons. Additionally, I wasn't sure if it would, but it also kept the unactivated themes that were already installed on the new site that were not installed on the old one, which I consider a plus. I heart WPAcademy so hard!

Utterly brilliant - the best plugin ever
By , for WP 3.9.1

I didn't believe this could possibly work, but was staggered that five minutes after I'd installed this brilliant plug-in, I had an IDENTICAL, fully-functioning site on a different domain.

I thought I would come unstuck as obviously I had to install the latest version of WordPress (3.9.1) whereas the original site is 3.1.2, but here's what happened: I installed WP Clone on the new WordPress site, clicked 'Restore Backup' and pasted in the backup URL. Momentarily, I had the older version of WordPress of course. Having checked that everything was fully functional I then upgraded WordPress, safe in the knowledge that I could always 'Restore Backup' again. That's when I expected things to go wrong, but no, everything was hunky dory.

I'm gobsmacked and delighted at the hours and hours of work the WP Cone has saved me, and I can't say enough good things about it.

Using wp-clone makes moving (smaller) sites around so easy and fast its a miracle. I use it to move sites from development to live all the time. It is great for making live backups as well. Just clone the site and if something goes wrong during an update or theme change, you can forward to the clone or quickly revert the site.

Two small issues only:

I have encountered some servers that won't play nice with the plugin. If the clone gets up over 200 megs things become tricky. Usually you have to exclude wp-content (an easy setting) and move that part separately.

Many thanks to the developers of WP-Clone!
