/*April 2015 Update */
Problems did pop up, but after reading what the Author had to say, I thank them for letting us know beforehand (:
So my stars still remain at 5, as I still find it to be a great product (:
Hopefully it's fixed soon
This plugin works great for me, but pay atention:
- If you have the "Rename wp-login" plugin instaled, you must deativate it before making a backup.
Otherwise you cant't restore your backup.
Also very important: After a backup copy your file zip to a secure place and then delete immediatly your backup file in the host.
If someone gets that file, it is very easy discover all passwords and usernames of your site.
This plugin is a huge timesaver for a site migration because of the direct http connection -- as far as I can tell, other similar sites assume that the user will download the clone file via FTP from one site and then upload it to another. Not my cup of tea.
However, I am giving this 4 stars rather than 5 because of poor documentation and a number of glitches that can cause problems along the way - and which can take some technical sophistication to address. (I've figured everything out.)
it if i give him the Link it crashes and tellin me it doesn`t work he deletes the temp lol one positive thing :)
Awesome plugin. Complete site migration in under 5 minutes. Everything intact. Solid.
this problem is mentioned several times in the Forum, but there is no support at all. disappointed!
Missing content without errors. That makes this the worst kind of problem! You could potentially pass a site to a client never knowing that text and/or images are completely missing. On top of that, the plugin creator has disappeared from the support forums for over six months.
Sad there is no support (yet ?) for multisite. A little modification would allow at least to enable cloning a site sharing an SQL DB with others using table prefixing ( which I admit is not a fancy idea but current practice at some providers), since the table prefix used is site-wide and available in the global variable $prefix . Currently all tables are backed up irrespective of prefix, allowing to inadvertently transport data which may be confidential.
This has got to be the best plugin ever. I truly would be lost without it. The amount of time this saves me you wouldn't believe!
