I would rather use a light weight SEO plugin.
This plugin used to be an automatic addition to our client's sites. It's still good for managing SEO meta, but thanks to recent updates it's lost half of its usefulness.
Excluding pages from the XML sitemap used to be able to be done on the pages themselves with a simple checkbox. Now you have to hunt down each page ID and enter them in a central plugin page instead. Very much less convenient.
The more flagrant change however was the unceremonial and dickish way they dropped 301 redirects from the plugin entirely with no warning. Just gone. To get it back you have to buy the Pro version. I'm all for them getting paid for their work and they tell you the feature is improved, but to just drop it like they did smacks of bait and switch. It really leaves a bad taste in your mouth, and it lost them some respect as a product.
These lost features are just useful enough to be desirable but not enough to push you over into paying $89 for Pro. I want to be enticed into upgrading, not annoyed into it.
It's still rather good for SEO management, but it's no longer untouchable. If I'm already going to be handling more things manually or through a different plugin than before, I'll also be keeping my eye out for a better SEO solution as well.
I won't lie, I'm still a pretty big fan of this plugin. However, the way the removed features are basically hidden from a recent big update is pretty deceptive. My timing is apparently bad for doing some house cleaning on my site, and the 301 redirect tool that I always saw would have come in really handy. I get it--lots of people must use it so it's probably a good way to get users to upgrade to premium, and everyone on the free version is hooked so it won't drive most people away. Still, just TELL US. Candidly. So I don't have to waste one of many hours I will likely spend working on this project just trying to figure out where the dang field went. The premium version isn't in my budget, and I feel for those in the same boat. I will keep using the plugin, but I raved about it to everyone who I met with a website before, and that will stop.
I installed this GOOD seo plugin on my new wordpress blog but I really don't like the way it forces you to use only its features.
I installed xml sitemap plugin and disabled the yoast xml function, but I still get warning to disable the google xml sitemap plugin and use yoast's xml plugin. I feel it's forcing me to do something which I don't want to do.
Had to roll back to the previous version. 2.3 killed 2 of my 3 WP installs.
I tried using it for several times, but it makes the column break when I view all posts. The "title" column is very small. I hope some one can look at it and fix it.
I have been using this plug-in for the last year, but with the most recent WordPress SEO update, I'm starting to have issues.
Please update the plug-in immediately so that I can stop wasting time on these things. It's frustrating and time consuming.
Очень мешает и раздражает окно напоминания о обновлении в админке. Оно не пропадает после прочтения. Вынужден был отключить плагин.
I've used Yoast's plugin for years because it gives me so many things I want. Beyond titles and meta descriptions, the canonicals and XML sitemaps are things I use a lot. But lately the plugin has just grown so big it's hard to keep it running smoothly on the largest site I manage. Currently looking at other options because it takes up too many resources. I would love it if this plugin could scale back and have modules, similar to WooCommerce, so I could leave out all the things I don't use.
