Improve your WordPress SEO: Write better content and have a fully optimized WordPress site using Yoast's WordPress SEO plugin.
While I have no complaints about the SEO features of this plugin, I had problems with the sitemaps feature. It caused images to be indexed, which I did NOT want. I have that directory blocked in robots.txt, and I set the plugin to noindex media files. And yet, the sitemaps generated warnings in Webmaster Tools, somehow directing Google to look for images that had been deleted years ago. And then Google began indexing my current images, which again I did not want.
I asked for support over a week ago, carefully following the instructions to make my post just right, but never got a single response. I see a lot of other users getting similar warnings from Webmaster Tools, and in some cases it was easily solved but none of those solutions worked in my case. This has never happened with other sitemap plugins I used, so I've gone back to using those. There is something fundamentally wrong with the sitemaps functionality of Yoast's plugin, and it might be better to just remove that functionality if he is not going to support it.
so many featured
This plugin has sections that no not work as intended. After months of trying to find a solution with many individuals with the same problem I have elected to discontinue use. From forum posts to emailing the developer there has been no replies or solutions.
I initially had this plugin rated 5 stars. After 5 years working on WordPress and understanding it's full nature. I've downgraded the rating. The why will come later.
What I will say is that 5 years ago this was a 5 star plugin for the sites I owned and it is still a great plugin especially for those new to WordPress.
It's just not my 5 start SEO plugin anymore.
I've been using Yoast a long time. It really works for me.
This plugin does a great job of covering SEO for WordPress. The best thing is there are are dozens of settings that allow you to customize your SEO in WordPress, and then you can export the settings to use on another site.
Greatest SEO Plugin that I used.
Best respect Yoast team!
Support is terrible if you want to go further.
I spent about two weeks trying to get this plug-in to work. No matter what I did the sitemaps were barfed-up and rejected by google.
The interface IS confusing. The author tries to be comical or ironic with some of the selections - so when you read a description next to the check-box your're left wondering "sooo... should I check it or not?"
I've used plug-ins by non-English native speakers (Newsletter by Satollo is a great example) that are absolutely brilliant and clearly written and work straight out of the box.
I recommend the plug-in author take a look at all of the selected options, group them in a way that makes sense, and remove all of the jokes from the interface (they are not funny) and work on a solid plug-in that works for most people most of the time with pre-sets that won't ruin your SEO if you don't know what you're doing.
Good luck, and I hope to see newer, better, version. I still need SEO help - but it looks like this plugin is not for me.
Kudos to those who were able to make it work DESPITE the bugs and interface.
WooCommerce 2.0.8 & WP 5.3.1
Works overall, but in Admin/Products/Products messes up the frames and condenses data, which is not usable. In order to use this section I have to disable the plugin, and when I am finished, enable again.
