Improve your WordPress SEO: Write better content and have a fully optimized WordPress site using Yoast's WordPress SEO plugin.
Really bad experience with this plug. Helping out my buddy with his site but I will not use it myself or recommend it. Manual update puts the site blank.
Used to be a 'go to' plugin for every site I built.
Nowadays it's just broken updates on top of broken updates with little in the way of new features.
A real shame, I hope the developer starts to put the effort into the plugin like they used to, other SEO plugins are looking increasingly attractive.
Problems with the_content filter logic, arguably not working by the best practises ( not abusing hooks like the authors seem to blame users online )
All the other 2 most popular SEO plugins don't have this problem.
The first thing I did with this plugin was to generate a sitemap. However of the 11 sitemaps generated by this plugin in the sitemap index file, only 5 of the 11 were actually there. The missing 6 caused Google Webmaster Tools ( when sitemap submitted ) to return 'General HTTP error:404 not found' error messages and Google asked me to re-submit the sitemap index file so that it follows their guidelines. I can't comment on the other functionality of the plugin but the first and only function I asked it to perform was a big fail.
The plugin is fine and probably works for most users but when you encounter a problem you will not get any support. I have few plugins (two of them are commercial) which seem to interfere with Yoast SEO preventing Google Webmaster Tools from seeing my sitemap and reporting that it doesn't contain any URL's. I can't resolve the issue because Yoast doesn't provide support. It's enough to look at the support forum on wordpress.org to see that the issues go on unresolved. I have no choice but to abandon Yoast SEO.
My guess anyone who has had success after using it is because of the own doing and had nothing to do with the plugin.
I've been using it for over a month now and when I search for my webpage it's buried three or four pages deep. And I can't even find specific posts. This is true even when I search for what I wrote in my meta-data. I use all the functions for each post I make and I get their green dot for a good post, but still my posts are nowhere to be found when looking in Google. I use keywords that specifically apply to my site and yet sites that don't even directly match those keywords pop up long before my site test. My search rankings have actually dropped since beginning to use Yoast.
Oddly enough, during some searches my Facebook, my iWeb page and my own WordPress plugin all pop up well before my site that is supposed to be having SEO help through the Yoast plugin.
When I contacted Yoast, their only real suggestion to me was to pay them $700 or more for an SEO review. Now my website doesn't bring in the money to justify that and why would I pay for that service when what I use from them has not worked thus far.
So did oyou fixed the issue with the sitemap and webmaster tools, if i put in your fix then i get a sitemap block error if i i odnt put the fix in then i get bad link reports.
I use the plugin on three sites and it was working fine on them then I set up this new site and the seo titles are not working. There is no support for the free version that's fine. but how can you expect someone to pay for a plugin to get support I mean if the free version does not work as intended why would anyone want to upgrade. and as you can see from the support forums there are a lot of people with problems for me I am switching to all in one seo at least they will support their free version.
The latest update (Oct. 2014) broke the link function in the WordPress toolbar. This plugin is the only one I installed, updated or uninstalled in a couple of weeks. It's the only change I made to the site, so I know it's the problem. I deactivated and reactivated it, clearing all caches in between.
When I contacted Yoast, they basically said, "Sorry, you're on your own." So while I hope the next iteration of the plugin restores the functionality this one broke, I can't say much about their attitude.
I see there is a conflict with Calendar widget.
When plugin is active, Calendar widget (posts calendar) and Archive links do not work.
