Free Version Is Fine. "Premium", "Local", XML Sitemap All A Joke
By , for WP 4.0

"Premium Support".. The support is awful. Google XML Sitemap submitted my sitemap in 10 minutes. Yoast was error message (they blamed everyone but themselves) then told me it would take "2 weeks" to submit. Emails are answered with canned responses, if answered at all. The free version has some cool stuff, but everything in the pay version (redirects, for example- just get "simple redirect" plug in) are just as good or better.
Shame on you Yoast. And "local sep"? Really? 2 Weeks... nothing. I'm an attorney in a village with less than 10 attorneys and I didn't rank on ANY page with Yoast local seo. Save your money. Look elsewhere.

Latest version breaks WordPress
By , for WP 3.8.3

The latest version of WP SEO breaks the image scaling feature within WP. I contacted WP SEO about this critical bug and they responded that I didn't have premium service so they could not answer. Stay away from this plugin until they have publicly acknowledged that this bug is fixed.

Number of character in title not work.
SEO analysis in post/page editor not work (always bad)
SEO report in post/page listing not work (grey bullet for all post/page also several years old).
Various meta tag like Twitter or Google not show correct information.

Awful plugin!
By , for WP 3.9.2

Hi there,

The last few version of a plugin full of bugs. Settings doesn't work! The main problem you will have with a very important SEO element - meta-title. And this bug will kill a lot of your future traffic from search engines.

The current version of a plugin so complicated, but the main SEO features completely ignored. Now you don't have any chance to delete a "category" word, again settings of a plugin related to a meta-title doesn't work at all, and a quite annoying SEO elements (brief statistics) at /wp-admin/edit.php which you have no chance to switch off.

And one more awful problem - in modern themes it's quite difficult (in most cases impossible without a hired programmer) to insert breadcrumbs. Again the very important SEO element!

I liked a plugin 2-3 years ago, now it's full of bugs!

Good luck!

Igor.

Worst Ever SEO
By ,

This is the biggest mistake I did by installing this SEO. I was ranked 1 on many keywords with steady traffic. The day I installed this plugin, google stop indexing my site. After lot of research I was able to fix it, but I have lost all that ranking.

I posted the query but with no reply for weeks now. Unless someone resolves the issue, I am not going to change my review.

Maybe the premium work, but the free version doesn't
By , for WP 3.9.1

I had opened a question for the wordpress seo Yoast team here relating to a possible regression defect and nobody has even responded...
From their site it brings me back here in a loop...
It seems like I truly have hit a dead end with wordpress seo by yoast from the very beginning with this issue by simply using this free plugin!

Using this plugin without some kind of basic support from developers is a risk i no longer can take, while things work everything is fine, but if something breaks, then the site using such plugin, could loose the Google rankings overnight!

Loosing Google rankings may not be serious for the developers of the plugin, over the concept of support is only provided to premium users, but is enough reason for me to decide and look at the alternatives!

From all the reports i'm seeing here in the forum, there are issues with both versions of the plugins, and to use the free version of this plugin, it seems often you either have to be programmer or coder and contribute to the fix yourself or I suspect one has to buy the premium version of the plugin... either way, nobody has responded to my query, so it gives me no option other then go elsewhere.

I have found a premium alternative plugin ($27 dollars), developed by a smaller team, which seems to be much more detailed for SEO purposes then wordpress seo currently is, one thing i know for sure, this plugin won't break my site SEO in the future, if plugin goes wrong, as it simply helps you optimize the posts to reach the necessarily Google SEO standards, it won't ever break anything, plus i can turn it off once my content has been SEO.

IMO, customer service is pivotal for the success of a growing business, we are all potential customers, for someone to tell me because I'm not a paying customer (and companies as they become bigger often forget about this, over keeping the shareholders pockets full), that you have no responsibility in fixing a problem which you have caused, will only ensure that you have lost me forever as a customer, not only that I certainly will never be able to recommend your service to anyone else in the future, what you should think is, remember there is a lot of competition out, I'm sure will be able to offer a better service, IMO, the wordpress seo team should consider hiring someone, to monitor(round the clock) and respond to related plugin questions posted in this forum, maybe just think of it as another sales channel!

If you drop the ball I certainly see an opportunity coming in this competitive market!

Error in sitemaps

Many users have problems with the sitemaps, but there is no support to help :(

XML Parsing Error: junk after document element

No support and weird errors

Yoast has been discredited (it's mostly a waste of time)
By ,

After two years of daily use and testing I can honestly say the Yoast plugin is a red herring. The idea that Google will credit a blog or website if it has 'quality content', 'proper titles' and a host of other 'rules' is nonsense.

Google continues to reward scrapper sites, and most hard working writers who play fair, will get squashed by Jon Doe and his spammy forum of copy/pasted links.

Yoast is a nice idea, but in the wild west of Google, you are wasting your time.
