Not bad, but I liked v2 much better
By , for WP 4.3.1

Looks like 3.0.5 fixed most of the issues. The only thing that is still annoying is meta details inline editor - there should be standard form fields for title, description, keyword fields. Right now, no one I asked knew how to edit these values. And if you have empty values, or when you start editing and delete any text, the fields have height=0 so it jumps and it's hard to click. I'll change my rating to 3, one point off for that inline editor, one point off for versions 3.0.0-3.0.4 - these should never exist.

Have a multisite? Look for alternatives.

Just read the support section here. The number of problems that came with 3.x is depressing.

Not my go to SEO plugin any more..

After being my favoritt plugin for several years I think its time to change to another SEO plugin.. Its amazing how they push out so many updates with more bugs every time. The old version before 3.0 was a lot better!

Can no longer recommend

We have used both versions for many sites. This review is only for the free, per WP policies.

Causes far more problems than it fixes. 3.x versions have had conflicts with WP itself (text editor) and with numerous plugins.

Too much dashboard spam and what appear to be affiliate links.

Even for a free plugin, if you have a million plus users, you should at least do a little testing to make sure you do not screw up WordPress functionality and a few major plugins like WordFence.

Either use a different SEO plugin or an older 2.x version of this.

I think this should be forked by a group of responsible contributors.

It use to be good but no more

my site was de-ranked on google since the last update!
it seems like no more free service available here, I'm switching.

The worst thing I have seen for a very long time
By , for WP 4.3.1

The latest version is the worst thing I have seen for a long time and unfortunately I had automatic updates of plugins. The new version is only about getting more $$$ from the premium version. I used to do translation for free for Yost and I have recommended it as the No1 SEO-plugin but not any longer. Do not ask me for any free translation service cause from now I will not help you for free. I will also remove links, add nofollow and warn people for this shit. To be honest I hate the latest version - it is an insult. It is time to change SEO plugin for my blognetwork or revert to an old version. You do not deserve a high rate - therefore I give it 1 star.

Worthless, don't even bother.

Lost it, totally

After suffering 5 updates in the month and being exposed to some uber-money-grabbiness.... no more.

If I want to go to Pro ENTICE me, don't strip out functionality of the free version.

With the sheer number of sites i run versions 3.*.* have cost me over a day in lost work just with vanity updates.

too many updates instead of one stable release
By , for WP 4.3.1

the plugin is frequently updated but instead of releasing a stable version, every new fix seems to create a thousand new issues. The last update is totally unusable, all the option pages within the plugin can't be accessed.
Maybe it is just my installation or some problems with other plugins but this last "update" made me quit.
I think the regular version and updates are just there to promote some premium packages and have new articles being published by all those seo expert websites.

You are entitled to absolutely nothing.

I won't bother going into detail on how the 3.0 update completely trashed my site, if you check the recent comments below, you'll see that's true for many, many others.

I'd already had qualms about Yoast after they started to move established functionality (ie. redirects) to the premium version.

In this latest update, you are now also forced to share your data with OnPage, something I thought was against WordPress T&Cs and illegal within the EU without explicit consent. It appears a shameless attempt to get you to subscribe to OnPage's $120 per month per site premium offering. I can only imagine Yoast must be getting an undeclared affiliate commission.

I actually have a premium subscription to Yoast. I won't be renewing. I'll be switching.

However, I'll let "Mr. Yoast" himself have the final word about the version of the plugin available here at the WordPress repository.

This is a product that, as far as I can tell from our customer database and your email address, you’re getting for free, and that entitles you to absolutely nothing. http://d.pr/i/12sib
