WordPress PopUp is the smart, responsive, customizable and beautifully coded pop-up and pop-over plugin for WordPress and Multisite.
Set up a popup to be shown on mobile and nothing happens when you tap the X in the corner. It doesn't close... on any version of iPhone...
Look, I purchased this plugin under the expectation that it would work, which it DID NOT without some real effort, that's the minor problem.
Here's the real big problem: The features that I needed, for which I specifically purchased this plugin, had some bugs and needed some updating, which I informed the company about. I'm sure by now, judging by their changelog, they've fixed the issues and included the much-needed updates with their software that I specifically purchased with the reasonable expectation of it working as stated. Except you have to have an expensive, unnecessary subscription to update.
So I can't update my plugin, even for the simple fixes that should have been included with what I PURCHASED because they wanted me to buy a membership at somewhere around $25 a month (or they offered me a whopping $100 a year "deal" when I raised this concern to them) if I wanted to actually update my plugin.
So they sold me a $20 plugin that lacked certain necessary functionality for which I would have to pay $20 per MONTH if I wanted to stay updated.
They also include an obnoxious ad that you can hide, but just keeps coming up, with their plugin that begs you to get their expensive membership for which it's hard to understand the value, and specifically SHUTS OFF certain functionality if you don't have the membership. So in other words, to make matters worse, they blackmail you with walled functionality just for a pingback to their subscription.
Their free one is junk, their paid one is subpar and cannot be updated unless you want to REpurchase what you already purchased for minor improvements, and the advertisements that they feel justified in sticking in YOUR wordpress administrative backend are intrusive, obnoxious and annoying.
Stay far away from anything WPMUDEV. Worst $20 I've ever spent.
In free version you can't literally do anything, and asking $24 / Month for just a pop up plugin is ridicilous. Uninstalled just 5 minutes after installation. Total waste of time.
...I couldn't get the Plugin to work on WP 4.2.2
As we have with several of their plugins,
Installed the "free" version.
the plugin had problems. Support? Not.
A nag screen nags you to death - and their prices, for a plugin, are ridiculous.
I strongly suspect that some of the 5 star ratings are faked, or lets say, severely biased due to financial interest. (Same people giving same short "amazing" review on ALL. So we are leaving our own on the ones we tested/used)
the author is just trying to make users buy premium version.
basic functionality is also not working properly for free version.
This plugin was good many years ago but now, the company wants you to buy to have any sort of customizations options. I do not blame them but the free version does not even work now. Do yourself a favor and look for a different WP pop up plugin. Shame, WPMU Dev is normally pretty reliable but perhaps that is changing now.
The pop-up plugin was a joke. What they advertise as basic functionality for the product actually requires custom coding. Upon discovering this within 12 hours of purchasing the product, I asked for a refund. They don't give refunds for this. I was told they can'y give refunds because they wouldn't be able to stay in business because people would just continue to use the product without paying. I asked them how this was possible since they issue license keys and could just as easily revoke a license key in order to take away access. I received no response back.
Based-on my experience, these guys appear to be completely unethical.
I used this a year or so ago, it was OK then, Now when I try again it only asks for money , then when I finally deleted all of the extra popups from last year It gave me a popup with the form 7 code instead of a usable form!
All the useful functionality in this plugin is blocked out as Pro. And there's no way to add a form to sign up to a mailing list.
