WordPress Popular Posts is a highly customizable widget that displays the most popular posts on your blog.
I think maybe this is the best popular post plugin to look, but i noticed REALLY BIG problems with server load. This plugin consume an enormous amount of resources. I discovered that lately, when my server was crashing. With high traffic server load was around 80.00, eliminating the plugin the server load is around 1.00.
Watch out if you have a lot of traffic on your website, this plugin can be devastating.
Each time the statistics go crazy and touches empty the cache, but always ends up back to fail again.
I would just avoid. This was time consuming to find out it doesn't work well.
"Genius idea" to start counting popular post only after plugin installed (
I was fan of your software before you published the 2 last versions... .
It seems the stats are wrong.
It's a shame.
Is it possible to get previous versions ?
I hope you fix the problem ou publish older version.
Otherwise I going to change...
Plugin not working
This is pretty poorly put together. For example, there are tool tips in the widget which open a completely irrelevant page when clicked -- in the same window! So you lose all the settings you just configured and still don't get an answer from the tool tip....
I'm not a programmer, but it seems that this plugin should be updated more frequently. Since using 3.8.1, I noticed what I believe to be a HUGE bug...
Every view of a post raises the count by 17 views (usually) or even more.
I realized this after activating the plugin when in only an hour my views were totaling in the many hundreds -- and after investigating, I found this anomaly.
Unfortunately this renders the plugin useless unless updated and fixed.
This plugin is useful, but every time there is a new version, every time there is a new wordpress core, we see new bugs like pages wich cannot be displayed because of that plugin...
It's unclear to us why such a small function can cause that much damage... Therefore, I cannot stress out loudly enough that this plugin is useful, but is so poorly coded that it is imbricated way too much to other functions and thus, generate errors at every version change.
And not to speak about translations...
