Should be better considering it's WordPress.org product
By , for WP 4.2.2

Title is TL;DR version.

Longer version:
Please, please, please WP.org guys - fix this useful and very wanted plugin - there are constant error notices (with WP_DEBUG on), cannot import certain custom meta - most important nav_menu_item custom meta, radio choice instead checkboxes when selecting what to export, timeout errors ...

Considering this is WP.org plugin all mentioned above is outrageous. Especially considering WP strict coding and philosophy standards. Come on guys, I KNOW you can do better. Why don't you ?

Works for tiny sites only
By , for WP 4.1.1

When you have a tiny site with a handful of single posts, it might work.

When you have a more professional site with hundreds or even thousands of posts, woocommerce products, etc., this tool is not going to work.

Pro's:
it's very simple

Cons:
- It tries to import everything in one run, which leads to timeouts.
- After a timeout, you cannot continue. It doesn't continue where it stoppped.
- It doesn't tell you what was imported IF a tiny import goes well. No status messages.
- It cannot import woocommerce product variations.

For us this tool is not the right choice.

I'm still looking for a professional solution that can help us actually export and import thousands of posts and Woocommerce products with variations. Something that does not timeout. Maybe something that can be installed locally and connect directly to the database.

Anyone knows such software? Please let me know.

Stuck in step 2
By , for WP 4.1

I'm stuck at step 2, blank page appears. I've used this plugin before and worked really well, not now. I've read that there're problems with WP version 4.1.

Can't do the job by itself
By , for WP 4.0

I am installing a clean wordpress on my machine (localhost) and trying to copy the online content (a few thounsand images and posts). The only way I could do that with the importer is to import posts&pages with this plugin and images with the Attachment Importer plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/attachment-importer/).

No featured image import. No good!
By ,

IF YOU ARE EXPORTING POSTS THE FEATURED IMAGES WILL NOT COME WITH THEM.

Posts moved over pretty easily, but the featured images/media did not. Seems to be a common/normal unsolved problem. So you will have to re-upload and re-choose all your featured images. Do not rely on this plugin if you planned to easily move content from one site to another!

Duplicates
By , for WP 3.9.2

Plugin did not work properly: imported XML file, but somehow duplicated my pages and posts.

Worked
By , for WP 3.9.2

Any plans to update this?

It imported the small demo content file as I needed, but it hasn't been updated since 3.8.3 and people are already testing the 4.0 beta now. I find it hard to believe this is an official WordPress.org plugin, especially after reading the reviews here.

If it won't be updated, are there any other recommended plugins to import XML files?

Featured images not working
By , for WP 3.9.1

Hi there,
If you only plan to import posts without featured images it is OK.
If you try to import post WITH featured images, than you have to do it one by one.
If you try to import more than ONE posts with featured images, than it bugs has all the post will show but all of them with the same featured image.

SO...

Not really working.

Usually works
By , for WP 3.8.1

Usually works but sometimes doesn't upload images. Would have given it 3 stars but this plugin seems unnecessary for a plugin as it should be in the wordpress core

Featured images don't get imported
