Can come in handy.

Never, ever works first time.
By , for WP 3.9.1

Surely there has to be a better option or improvements that can be made to this plugin.

Yes it's free and yes it works eventually (sometimes after 9-10 attempts) but it's one of the most frustrating plugins to use.

Currently about to try for the 5th time to import 10 pages and 22 blog posts on a fresh install.

It's just painful.

*update, took 14 attempts. FOURTEEN !!!!!

**another update - NO LONGER IMPORTS IMAGES !!!!

can anyone recommend an alternative?

Awesome Plugin
By , for WP 3.9.1

I've used this a lot for ACF exports and imports which saves a ton of time. However recently I had a massive site problem on a very in-depth WordPress site. This site had multiple custom post types, with one of them using around 30 ACF fields.

I setup a new site from scratch, and then imported all of the data from the old with with this plugin. Worked beautifully. Holy crap this saved me.

Thanks for a great plugin!

It works (kind of)

Can't say it's doesn't work, but results are quite unexpected.

Doesn't import images
By , for WP 3.9

I have wasted so much time with this substandard importer. Even when I click the "import images into media library" option, it just links to the old site images. No featured images with the new posts either. PRetty much had to rebuild the site from the base up every time I've used this. Almost useless

Has never worked properly...

This plugin has never imported images or attachments correctly (if at all). I've been using the patched version inimarin posted here for over a year now. Amazed that they still haven't implemented his fix. Or offered one of their own! Mind boggling...

Here's a direct link to inimarin's working version, as well as the link to his original post.

For new users ! - Example of how to do this to migrate your site to a new server or redo it again.

I will help you how to correct work with this plugin :

- Export your XML file that integrates the structure of your site . Make sure your new server in the database is created equal in name and tables as well as on your old server and the folder path is same.

ex :

* MyDB ( your DB name must be same as the old )

* MyDB_
( its prefix table name must be same as the old - The prefix must always be configured and verified in your wp - connfig.php before its new WP installation on your new server . )

* Your folder path should be equal ( public_html / wp -content public_html / wp - admin and so on .

- Note: When creating a new database on your new server , NOT import your data to the new database by means of SQL file because your exported XML file already contains the necessary settings for the structure of your new site your new server - And as previously remembered setting up tables should be in your wp - config.php before its new WP installation on your new server .

Copy your entire wp-content folder to the new server, because the plugin to work import settings for your database needs to find these information paths and folders in the same way as was done your export file XML site.

After all set up, import your XML file to its new facility site and everything will be OK.

The imported XML file will create all file paths on your new tables from your DB and your new site will look like before.

Always works for me and the site is brand new as a newborn baby - I do this to clean the database when some plugins undermine information and then uninstall the plugin my database gets dirty. To have no work to hunt information and tables, I always do this method to let the DB clean - And my site structure remains the same.
