This plugin needs work. Wastes my time everytime.

Maybe it's the XML wordpress exports, or maybe it's this import plugin, but migrating a blog from one host to another shouldn't hurt this bad.

This simply can not handle attachments. Try the wordpress attachment importer for that.

Working

No featured image import. No good!
By ,

IF YOU ARE EXPORTING POSTS THE FEATURED IMAGES WILL NOT COME WITH THEM.

Posts moved over pretty easily, but the featured images/media did not. Seems to be a common/normal unsolved problem. So you will have to re-upload and re-choose all your featured images. Do not rely on this plugin if you planned to easily move content from one site to another!

Life Saver

I can't believe I was so stupid before. I used to manually copy and paste all of my content (excluding comments) to my new websites. Not any more. Thanks for saving all the pain.

The one and only plugin I always use to import!
By , for WP 4.0

When I need to import anything in my WordPress powered sites, the only plugin I always use is this one. Never had a single problem.

Did the job I needed.

Duplicates

Plugin did not work properly: imported XML file, but somehow duplicated my pages and posts.

WP export -> WP import: Broken
By , for WP 3.9.2

1. Export from existing WP site (yes, dear internets, "Export All")

2. Import to new site, with download and import media option

3. Notice that all of your "Media has falied to import" and the Media Library is completely empty

4. Repeat several times from step 1

n. Eventually, give up. Manually re-upload and re-link images on 200+ posts. Sad lack of support for this tool. Migrations Happen.

Useless

Importing is still impossible. And to add insult to injury, it is impossible to import into WP what has been exported from WP. I am capable of reading the manual and following instructions.
