The Importer plugin is a necessary tool when developing for WordPress or moving a site, although it's not without its share of issues.
75% of the time it just works and all content/attachments will import correctly, but there are times when importing a file that is too large, or trying to import attachments from a remote server causes errors. This isn't a problem with the plugin per se, but with the web server that can usually be resolved by tweaking the server config (if possible).
Another issue that I've run across is due to a bug in the Safari browser which causes the importer to hang when importing a file. This is actually due to a Safari/Webkit bug that's been around since 2005 (https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5760), and you can save yourself the headache by doing the WordPress import with Firefox or another browser instead.
When you import blogs from an XML file exported from another website, "post->guid" of posts remain unchanged, they should be the new permalinks of the posts.
I had to re-create new permalink in my template file to deal with this bug.
Perfect for what it does but hopefully a new addition will become complete by exporting the database as well.
It worked fine for me but not without a couple of stumbles, which I suspect are server related rather than any issue with the plugin itself.
It took me a few tries to move everything. On the first attempt it only imported tags a some images, but no posts, pages or comments (and no error messages). I ran the import maybe 6 times in total and each successive run imported more each time until eventually everything was imported. So if you have this issue, just be patient. Everything will import eventually.
Given the plugin cost $0, I have no complaints!
hope it support thumbnail ~！
Backing up is easy; the real problem, and the important part, is restoring. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to restore a backup, only to find that there was some difficulty that I couldn't get around.
Importer is simple but effective. It backed up my blog. It didn't save the media, but when I uploaded those separately my blog was able to find them. I admit that I may have missed some feature in importer that would let me back up the media with everything else.
This is the best product I've found so far for backing up and
irestoring my blogs
I use this plugin a lot. It did save my life a bunch of times.
