Works fine, thanks!
Just one warning: if you change many files on your site, it takes plenty of server resources to do the backup, to the point that the server provider may ask to upgrade.
I ended up with the following protocol:
I use Dropbox syncing application on my home comp.
I let the plugin handle minor updates to the site (a few files + any DB changes).
In case I do a major change on my live site (a major upgrade to WP or change in a large plugin), I run rsync to synchronize the Dropbox directory on my home comp with my site. The Dropbox application synchronizes then it with Dropbox; after that the plugin just backs up the database.
One of the plugins I now install on every site :)
After trying another "best free" backup app that not only didn't work but has yet to refund my money, I found myself peeved and hunting for an alternative solution.
With the free version of WPB2D installed, I ran into a minor hiccup and contacted the programmer. He responded quickly and walked me through a variety of known issues. I found the culprit and got things working, so I bought the compression and email add-ons.
Everything's working great and I'm pleased.
Does what is says and works great!
I used to use some other free backup ones to try access dropbox. This is the only one that has consistently worked and just gets the job done.
Its a little slower then some of the other ones, but I deal with over 10 sites and so far the backups have been rock solid.
Installation and configuration are simple enough.
The first backup can take a little while, since the plugin does a file-by-file backup. but subsequent backups are only the database (uncompressed SQL) and changed / added files.
But once it's set up, it gets to work. There are premium plugins if you need additional functionality (like zipping files), but the out-of-the-box "free" version works great. Thanks for a great plugin.
This is one of those plugins that is a must-install on every site I work on. It's the easiest way to backup your entire site to somewhere off the server without having to pay for a license. Saves me a lot of work scheduling manual cron jobs or the old way of emailing backups.
This plugin is a must-have if you want to backup your website to a Dropbox account. Before using this plugin, I backup my sites manually weekly and that takes a lot of time.
Now, I can relax and have the backed up version of my site in my local computer since I have my PC and Dropbox account synced.
Awesome plugin, no more worrying about backups and hosting issues.
The communication problems with support gone a month ago, and now I must to say this plugin is only one which is really works, not overwhelmed with settings and uploads my 1.5 GB site as fast as possible. I not joking, 1.5 GB with all materials (I have 72 GB Dropbox space). The only one thing now looks problematic, site ls less responsive while ZIP-ped backup upload process not finished. If you not use ZIP, the site will not show any slow-downs. And, if someone decided to purchase, please not forget the software registered to domain name. In case you develop site locally and not in fully-isolated sandbox with real domain names and fake DNS to this sandbox, software will be registered to your site-dev.company-dev.com or something address and refused to work after moving to real domain.
