Must Have!

That's all there is to it really.

After a rough start: Success!!!

I am not a big fan of the "free, but pay me for an upgrade" strategy. However, a few bumps and 2 times that I thought "Why am I using this?" led me to a great result that was still "free" for now.

The good news was that I was able to get rid of some bloatware and a few not so good "Free Counters" (If you know what I mean). The Pro version is where I will head later because I like some of the features, but the price point is still extreme for a startup company that may have 20+ nodes to cover the various web entry points for one line of business.

The Positives:
It let you know who is visiting your site!!!
It separates the types of visitors!!
It tells you where and when!

Negatives:
The Pro Version is too pricy for me.

Thorough, Informative, Effective.

Wordfence has increased my level of confidence in security on all of my client sites. It is a great compliment to Sucuri. And every update is going in the right direction. Keep it up.

After becoming present to the number of brute force attacks on known and unknown users, I have been able to implement policies to better manage preventative security.

Great Plug-in

This is a great plugin for security and checking plugins and themes also. I am using it on 2 sites and it give me peace of mind when working with WordPress.

No problems or issues.

Just deleted it

I was using it more as a traffic monitor and sadly, since the update, it's not monitoring correctly. Now I get Bing and Googlebots flooding in the Humans feed, with WordFence not seemingly able to differentiate between human traffic and bots anymore.

Struggled with it for 3 days trying to see who are actually human thru all the bots and finally just gave up.

Sadly, deleted it today and off looking for another plugin.

I have several paid licenses and recommend the plugin. It has lots of features that other security plugins don't match. On the down-side, support doesn't seem to exist (I emailed them several times over an issue and received no reply). Perhaps they didn't get my email?

Essential Plugin

Could not live without this.

Wordfence is Perfect - five stars not enough!

Wordfence is the best plugin I've used on my WP site. Ever.

Having used it for around 18 months now, I'm quite used to it and have a feel for the developers.

I have total confidence in the plugin and the developers!

Ongoing feedback and updates are concise and clear so I'm always aware of how many attacks have been foiled - even down to how many usernames are being user/guessed by attackers, and more.

Reassuringly, the plugin is updated frequently and I've enabled the option to update automatically leaving me nothing to do; it has always worked without problem.

Well done and thanks to the developers!

There are other security plugins...

I started with this free version, and later bought the premium version. Everything was fine until some features stopped working after an update. There were very serious problems with it.
One of the worst customer service experiences ever. The rep was clueless and nothing was resolved. Rather than resolve this issue, the rep just marked the issue resolved.
So, if you have the free version of Wordfence, why not? Just don't pay for it. Don't expect too much. Don't believe the hype.

Great plugin

Loved this plugin. Not only it keeps any eye on the file modification, intimating me immediately if there has been any file intrusion by the hacker, it also blocks the hackers from logging in to the wordpress backend and doing any unwanted activities. Very happy with this plugin so far.
