I've used Wordfence across many sites, following a subtle and very clever site hack a few years back and have found it very useful. I suspect it occasionally pushes the RAM limit a little on my VPS, which hosts several low-traffic sites (all running Wordfence) but that is a small price to pay.
Being able to track small file changes (often the result of plugin authors just switching the version of WordPress that they've test against) is reassuring. Being able to track admin logins, block attempts at brute-force logins, etc. is also very welcome. Fabulous plugin. We'll be going pro this year to support this excellent plugin. Well done to the author.
I was using Ithemes Security for all my sites. But after upgrading all my sites to 4.2, over half of my sites no longer functioned. Had to disable plugin folders one by one til I determined it was Ithemes causing the issue.
Since switching to Wordfence I haven't had any issues to date. Installation and scanning was much easier than Ithemes.
My go to security plugin now.
I've installed it on all of my sites and it works great.
I was impressed enough to purchase the premium after search for AGES to find something as good or similar (you never find anything to cover everything)
I had some compatibility issues and within 24hrs they were there helping me go through it and looking right into it. The update patch seems to have fixed it anyway but the fact they were willing to jump right in and help was excellent!
Couldn't ask for more!
WordFence has saved me on a couple of sites, but recently I thought I'd test one of the other protection plugins. Boy, was I disappointed with their plugin. After receiving numerous emails telling me a site was under brute attack with no course of action to fix it; I installed WordFence, blocked the IP and my site was protected immediately. I can't say enough about the flexibility in the settings. I love the ability to block IP addresses that are brute force attacking my sites most specifically.
You don't need to look for another protection plugin, this one is exactly what you need!
Works just like it promises. We run a site that gets hundreds of thousands of pageviews a month, and I'm always surprised at how many (potentially) malicious users this plugin blocks. It goes a long way toward fighting off DDoS attacks and the like.
My one complaint: there's no way to disable email alerts entirely. (I don't really care what the plugin does day-to-day, so long as it's doing its job.)
great plugin that works as advertised. Thanks for keeping a bunch of features free!
This plugin is great when it comes to security and reports of attacks and similar. It's really easy to manipulate and install and does the job perfect!
I love Wordfence. It keeps the low-life out, and lets me concentrate on looking after my readers.
Start using this because BruteProtect became part of Jetpack. But WordFence is much more, so I immediatly liked it. For example the scanner. I guess the only security plugin you need.
