Enough options to make it powerful, not so many as to be confusing.
Wordfence is, hands-down, the BEST free security plugin for WordPress. Thank you so much for providing this fantastic product at no cost... especially when protecting your website from malware is absolutely priceless!
I got hacked. One of the things I did in response was to run some scans to find the malware, and that process led to Wordfence Security plug-in. It found the malware and that was fixed, but it also told me things I never knew:
On average, every 2 minutes of every day someone somewhere tries to log into my blog with an administrator ID. Wordfence makes it easy to block these by IP address.
At least for the past couple of days, there have been 4 crawlers ion my site at the same time!
I really like the ability of Wordfence to detect and automatically block denial of service attacks, and its notification feature that sends an email when a problem is spotted.
I have not tried the Falcon caching engine on my high-traffic site yet. I tried it on a low-traffic site and noted that pages were indeed being cached. It was easy to implement.
One of my plugins was hacked with a malicious redirect. This program found it, allowed me to delete it, and got us back in business.
I can't believe just how great this really works. After hackers wrecked my site, I discovered WordFence. It has been a God-send. Oh, the hackers came back alright, but now I have learned how to use WordFence to block them. Woot! Woot! Woot!
Better than 5 stars, I rate it 3 woots.
I was facing a lot of malware injection issues, this plugin is awesome... Thanks devs
This plugin requires no set up and works out of box. It tends to eat up resources, but then again everything does on a shared hosting plan. i tried a few different ones and the set up on others was complicated and left holes if not configured properly. i give a five star.
Great plugin, lots of functionality available at free level even. The scan does peg my processor however, still offering 5 stars as that is only partially the plugins issue.
Purchased PRO version. It used to scan fully. I did NOT change my website and after some WordPress updates and Wordfence updates, for some reason it just sits on scan and won't finish.
I reached out for support. They told me they thought it was my other plugins 'maybe' causing a 'conflict' or my own server. But would not answer me to tell me why they did not think it was a Wordfence plugin issue. I gave them Admin access to check my WordPress, and after they checked into my WordPress they said it was not a Wordfence issue, then when I asked how they came up with this logic, they said they cannot troubleshoot my site (I did not ask them to do this). Then they basically said I asked too many questions and wanted to know if I wanted a refund.
I see on the forum I am not the only person whose site sits on scan and does not finish scanning. I give it 2 stars because it's not a bad product (still needs work) if they can take responsibility that there is an issue others report that it does not fully scan and address it. They like to blame other plugins but don't help explain, well this must be the ideal set up for their Wordfence product to work (users must only use these plugins with our products). It's like this Wordfence plugin is so sensitive it can have easy conflict with other plugins or something and they blame the other plugins, they don't check their own product could maybe be the issue. How can I not have other plugins to work with my site?? This makes no sense. Otherwise it's not a bad product overall.
Works for me. Easy to understand and pretty stunning to watch it work. Good work.
