What The File adds an option to your toolbar showing what file and template parts are used to display the page you’re currently viewing.
I got tired of modifying theme template files and not seeing the results on the front end, only to find out I was modifying the wrong template. What the File lets me verify the template my page is using before starting to modify any code. Great time saver!
gerade bei der Fehlersuche ist das Ding klasse!!
Developing a theme and wonder, why your changes don't appear front end? Reason might be, WordPress chooses a different template to display content following it's own template hierarchy. But what template is that now? Don't worry, just install this little helper and you'll see a new entry in your menu bar, which always tells you, what file currently gets used. Even more, in comparison to similar plugins it even will tell you about template parts being loaded by get_template_part(), which might save you some more time in development.
The plugin works great right out of the box, integrates well, no settings needed.
And if you wonder about the plugin name: I guarantee, it's easier to remember! ;)
Well done, Barry Kooij!
One of the biggest issues with being a WordPress end user who isn't a PHP developer is understanding the structure of the backend.
This simple plug-in allows anyone, regardless of their experience, to understand what backend files control which functions, giving end users the opportunity to pry-open the developer side of WordPress in a new way.
Perfect, does the job just right!
So simple, but so incredibly helpful during theme development.
Great theme for the beginner, lots of easy to understand options!
A nice way to see the main templates being used
we have several different templates on our site and this helps to see quickly which main template file and sub-template files are being used. thats really it.
