Easy Web Performance Optimization (WPO) using caching: browser, page, object, database, minify and content delivery network support.
After a while this plugin will stop deleting the expired cache files and your site will crash because there's no more space left on device!
I guess they are trying to force you to use the payed version of the plugin.
Do not install this!
I paid $100 for support two weeks ago. W3TC will not answer the phone, will not return phone calls, will not respond to email, and will not respond to support tickets. The least they can do is remove the paid support option from the plugin.
I tried configuring this plugin, knowing I have an apache permission issue on the server. I cannot tell how many people have this, but seems to be a general webhosting issue, where there is a webserver account (in my case named apache) and a FTP user account, and with default permissions one of the has insufficient rights.
In this case, my FTP account is owner of most files and the plugin is unable to write to these files.
I solved this my having my webhoster move my sites to a server with "mod_ruid2"-functionality.
Anyway, I had 3 sites for years with this stupid issue which was caused by the design of this apache stuff.
You should be aware of this super-general situation??? Do you guys ever had a site running at webhoster? Maybe you should start then?
Before installing your plugin should do a check like this:
Check write permission on the files/folders YOU will modify:
./your-blog-dir/public_html/wp-content/w3-total-cache-config.php (all your configs)
./your-blog-dir/public_html/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache (plugin folder)
IF NOTOK, dont even activate the plugin because you will most likely break the site, and uninstalls will fail as well.
A lot of plugins do this for years already.
So Im stuck with "W3 Total Cache: Default settings are in use. The configuration file could not be read or doesn't exist. Please save the settings to create the file."
I will have the website be moved to ensure the webserver runs under my FTP account. I assume then this plugin will work.
But do yourself a favor and focus on the basic part of your plugin, you are breaking many sites, which can simply be prevented imo. You are loosing money because of this...
I've signed up for the news letter I've rated you but the pop up won't go away!!!!!!!
Hmmm...and a few minutes later I am back again. Guess what? Got the flippin popup again. I did not read the question right maybe. It did say give us a smashing rating. Well here it is. You've enjoyed me enough to uninstall the whole thing. Enjoy!
I installed the plugin and it works well. Then I purchased Theme optimization for one of my sites and paid 150 USD in february -15. But they never got back to me and delivered the service I paid for. Since March this year I have tried to contact the company on several occasions on different emailaddresses, forms and even on Twitter without any success. The conclusion is this: Something is very wrong here, don't send this Company any Money, they'll rip you off.
Seemed very promising on the description, but when I tried it, the best features were payed, including the CDN, which he claims to be the best one out there. I can't say if it works good or not, cause I not even tested the front page after activating it, the reason is obvious: Basically nothing in this plugin is free. I'm giving one star because I hate to be fooled by spamvert. Be more transparent when creating a description.
It is [ profanity ] cache plugin i've ever seen in my life, this plugin screwed me all the time i've tried this creepy plugin more than 6 of my websites but it always mess around, i recommend wordpress user to not to use this [ profanity ] plugin and i'll find a way to band this plugin forever.
This issue of overwhelming inode creation has been known, and unaddressed, for 2 years now. (See original support thread HERE)
It created so many that it put my account in danger of being shut down, and I've wasted hours today trying to clean up the mess by deleting all these files.
I had to go in through my host's file manager simply to stop the plugin, since it had used so many resources that I couldn't load the admin panel.
This is the second time today that I've had to do this, after trying to change the settings on the last forced shut-down and clean up.
It not only didn't speed my site up, it shut it down completely, more than once, with a problem that has existed UNRESOLVED for two years.
I give it one star because that's the required minimum to post a review.
Runs rampant with re-directs and causes server overload on CPU. Forced advertisement keeps popping up which you must click on. Also settings don't seem to stick and they get changed to: every option checked. Google Webmaster Tools report a 301 redirect on entire site and won't index pages.
