Configuration may take a while to get just right, but it is so flexible, and solid.
This is probably the fastest cache plugin I have tested.
But, to achieve the best configuration possible, it is necessary to spend many hours of hard work.
For example, if you are selecting one or more options on "Browser Cache" section, it is advisable to check the impact of your choices in the performance, with a benchmarking tool (for example, ApacheBench). In my case, I discovery that checking all of them (as suggested in many forums) causes a degrade in the performance. The worst option of all, in terms of performance lack, was setting "expires header". So, it is important to set only the options that you really need.
By not having a protection against these traps in which a beginner can fall, I prefer to evaluate it as a four star.
But, if you really know what you are doing, and you have the conditions to test the results of your choices, this is certainly the best option for you.
Still the expire headers show missing when we do a page speed or a gtmetrix evaluation. Its better some fix is done for such things.
Once you get the hang of it and know the best settings for your theme, W3TC works wonders when speeding up your site.
I've installed this on several sites and it has improved the performance.
Thanks for the great plugin!
It is does OK. Sometimes it slows down or interferes with other plugins.
The flaw mentioned in title is next - I hate the modal to give review and recommend the plugin (that's how I got here to write this ;) ) - I really don't like that type of "pushy" promotion ...
But hey, it's a free plugin which does its job very well. If possible, I would give 4.8 stars ...
See the title for my review.
