Works, But not with permalinks
By , for WP 4.3

Ok so i have everything set up perfectly but still have one MAJOR issue, Permalinks. If i don't have my permalinks set to default the forums displays a 404 not found. I don't want to use default permalinks so i guess im not using vanilla forums sadly until this is fixed.

Avoid downloading

Not worth the hassle, plus its a paid service and dosnt integrate in all themes, BB press is a lot better in my opinion

Not a stand alone plugin

It needs to be more clear that this plugin is simply an integration add on if you already are paying for a vanilla forums subscription. There is no way to set this up as a stand alone tool on your site.

Great plugin. Needs better documentation.

Once you've worked out how this plugin works, and what its dependencies are, it works a treat. Contrary to some comments on here, you don't need to sign up for a paid hosted forum. You can, but you can also use this with the free open source GPL, self hosted Vanilla forum software that you can download from vanillaforums.org.

In addition to installing this plugin in wordpress, you will also need to install a plugin for vanilla forum called jsconnect. This plugin will not work if your vanilla forum does not have that installed. I also installed a plugin called 'jsconnect auto', which automatically logs a user into the forum if jsconnect detects they are logged in to wordpress. This makes for a smoother user experience if you have a 1-to-1 SSO setup. If you want your forum to support SSO from multiple sources, you may not want that.

Next, you might get an error in your wordpress config, under Vanilla forum -> Setup, which says

Couldn't find a Vanilla Forum at this url :/
. If all you want is the SSO, ignore this and try setting up the Vanilla forum -> Single Sign-on page. This worked for me even though I still get the above error. I didn't bother with the embed forum feature or the comment integration. One of the three widgets doesn't seem to work. Maybe this is related to the Couldn't find error.

Its not free plugin?

Broken, borked, stuffed.

Been a sysadmin/hacker for a loooooooong time - I have fixed and got a lot of stuff to work .... but NOT this one ... giving up, throwing in the towel and moving on.

Great forum but a little complicated
By , for WP 3.6

This is one of the best forums that I ever see and works great on wordpress.

My only complaint is that the forum is a little complicated.

It's works great

Before you think plugin is broken, make sure the issue isn't your host. If you are getting "Couldn't find a Vanilla Forum at this url :/", it has to do with your server and access to curl. This post at the Vanilla Forum explains it best:

Happy commenting

Don't download

This is a subscription service. Do not download unless you plan to sign up and pay monthly for it!

Attempt for you to sign up
By ,

This plugin is only an attempt to get you to sign up and should say so before downloading. I am so sick of these that I have just created an account to start giving feedback ( I know that I should have been doing all along for the benefits of the community but I am lazy by nature ). Don't download unless you want to sign up...
