I get a lot of use out of this. My only complaint is having to go to the "Users" menu to make the initial switch, but the "switch back" function helps cut down on that. I appreciate not having to log completely out and back in with a different account.
As others have pointed out, this little plugin is a time saved, especially if you are a developer and you need to check how things look for non-admins. Very helpful when you are trying to troubleshoot issues of regular uses instead of having to change their password, then login as them then change their password again.
Highly recommended for admins!
It's true to day that it is often that simple things make life so much easier for WP Admins, and this is no exception.
The hours of toil that Admins go through, seeking out that elusive plugin that does 'exactly what it says'.
So often, many plugins are too bloated, requiring and 'api key' or a 'sign-up' as part of 'acceptance of use' > drive me crazy.
Well, for the Admin's, here is a plugin that will far meet your expectations. No more 'logging out' and back in again to see how a users view would look. Simply 'switch' and instantly, your logged in as that user! How simple is that?!
If I were to add a feature, it would be to add a 'switch' button on those sites which list other sites, such as directory search listings.
Other than that...yep, its a winner!
Nice job John ;-)
Perfect functionality for plugin and theme development.
Don't want to miss it...
Great support too, what can be seen from the support threads.
big help for see what the users see
Awesome - must have - plugin. Works out of the box.
Thanks so much:-)
Recommend the plugin
User Switching works flawlessly for its intended purpose. A must-have for administering sites where you're using different roles and capabilities to control access to front- or back-end areas of a WordPress site.
I had set up my blog so beta readers could go in and download and upload files. I thought I had set it up so they couldn't get to anything extra, that they wouldn't need for the project they were working on. When a friend of mine told me to try this I did. Boy am I glad! I discovered that they had access to blog posts, which I totally didn't want. Now, when I set up a new user I KNOW exactly what they can see. So glad I don't have to hope it's right anymore.
