Description: Beef up the WordPress TinyMCE content editor with a plethora of advanced options.
So I installed this on all my blogs & when I went to check off the features I wanted upto 4 rows, they wouldn't show up.
So I wrote on Josh's forum & he responded asking me if I clicked on the Toggle Toolbar button. I told him I did & that didn't help.
He ignored me.
I wrote him again a few days later, he ignored me again.
It's been almost 10 days since I posted & Josh Lobe has just disappeared.
Ultimate TinyMCE used to be good, and a must-have plug-in for WordPress. As of WordPress 3.9, Ultimate TinyMCE no longer works. The author recommends one of his other projects, WP Edit, but this is barely worth installing. Recommend TinyMCE Advanced for WordPress 3.9 and newer.
The plugin offers a widget where users can enter PHP code that gets executed instantly in the frontend.
Every user with the the privilege 'edit_theme_options' (and at least every blog admin) will be able to execute arbitrary PHP code on your server. In a multisite environmelt this may apply to some hunded persons.
With this plugin you're not going to be hacked, you ARE already hacked.
When opening plugin settings page gives PHP undefined variable notice about every option plugin has. If such simple things can't be sorted, I imagine what else lays deeper in the code. Certainly will avoid using this plugin.
This plugin automatically spams contextual links within your posts. The developers have been very sneaky in setting this option to enabled in the old version, which is the one you download from here. They will go on to say the the latest version doesn't automatically spam links (they call it "developer support"), you have to enable it, however on the plugin page of your site, the "Upgrade available" indicator is hidden by a plugin banner, so the only way to tell is checking the update plugin tab.
Developers like this should be banned, WordPress doesn't need them as there are plenty of active and ethical developers available.
Make sure to check your site for unwanted links, you are probably going to have to manually check each of your posts and remove them from each post.
I wish there was a report plugin option here.
Don't use this plugin. Has flattened my site and blown up posts.
Plugin is injecting links to other websites without permission from the unsuspecting user who installed plugin. There is absolutely no mention on this anywhere.
This also contradicts everything developer said on the forum which makes me believe this is just a stunt to sell backlinks on people's websites who trusted your plugin.
I RECOMMEND EVERYONE REMOVE THIS PLUGIN FROM THEIR WEBSITE IMMEDIATELY
You should NEVER attempt to inject or load offsite files and i'm very disappointed with this developer.
I consider this MALICIOUS software.
Okay.. so I see you don't like it when a plugin advertises a professional version... for whatever reason... and that's fine.
But.. what about the functionality of the plugin? That's what we are really here to review.
You mention absolutely nothing about the functionality. Did you even try the plugin? Or did you just see it in the list, and saw the ad link, and decided to come bash the plugin with a one-star review?
Next time... offer some actual feedback. Download the plugin and give it a try... you might actually like it! If you want to bash a developer for trying to make a few cents with a Pro version... there are other contact channels available. There is no need to it publicly.
This is most likely the poorest, least informative, plugin review I think I may have ever come across here on WordPress.
Have a nice day :)
