I've used the free version of this plugin and have been very pleased. It allows me to create an attractive, customized landing page to keep visitors out while I'm developing a site.
The only wish I have for this plugin is to allow choice of email server. I no longer use feedburner. I use MailChimp.
This plugin doesn't allow for email to be sent to a specified address.
This has been fine as I only have this up for a few days.
"Ultimate Coming Soon Page" is great. The pro version, "Coming Soon Pro" is even better -- well worth the small price.
If you're on the fence about whether you'll need a plugin like this after you launch your site, keep in mind that it also includes built-in 'maintenance mode' page functionality with some really awesome features. If you ever have to take your site offline for any reason, this plugin gives you a quick and easy way of adding a professional maintenance mode page.
Lastly, John's support is stellar. I had a small issue with a form I added to my coming soon page, I emailed John, and within a couple of hours John got back to me with a an easy-to-implement solution and voila... problem solved!
Thanks John for this awesome plugin.
I've been using Ultimate Coming Soon Page by Seedpod for over a year and it's the best I've found. Fast, easy setup.
Great for developers working on sites that haven't gone live. Visitors see a professional landing page with an option to collect contact info.
I buy premium versions of important plugins to help ensure they stick around and get maintained. As someone else has noted, this is a good strategy here to avoid any upgrade issues. Or just stay with free version on current projects and move to premium on the new ones.
The plugin itself deserves 5 stars, but the upgrade (for the Pro version) is so ridiculous and convoluted, I took off a star for that. In fact the upgrade path deserves 2 stars to be knocked off. A pro version of a plugin is supposed to be EASIER, not harder to deal with.
No way to save the settings, manual upgrade required... which wouldn't be that big of a deal, except that you have to DELETE the previous version (which was being used) before WordPress will allow a manual upgrade, because the directory already exists.
So now I have to recreate what I had set-up. I'm not happy. Oh, and when you click "visit plugin Developer's site" it takes you to the site's home page.... with no obvious instructions/menu on what to choose to find download instructions. The "My Account" is hidden (the plugin is sold through a 3rd party). For anyone looking, start with "Support", then you'll be able to find the "My Account"/login link.
And have your license key handy, you will need to put it in again after you upgrade.
If I wasn't so happy with the plugin I wouldn't go through all this. When the plugin is up for renewal (it's an annual license), I may just downgrade to the free version...which works just fine without all these hoops to jump through.
I don't usually write reviews but the support has been outstanding and the plugin is great....saved me some time for sure. THANKS!
Does what it says.
Simple and efficient. Doesn't need to be fancy, but if you want you can add stuff. Good job. and Thanks for the freebie!
I think this plugin is ideal for it.
This is a really simple thing they are doing, yet they are charging $50 which is about the same as most premium full theme - except this only gives you one year with the plugin, with a theme it's for life.
And come on, it's just a coming soon plugin, not a whole theme.
This is the fourth 'coming soon' plugin I've tried this morning and I am amazed at the amount of features not included in the free version of these plugins. Yes, I understand developers need to be paid for their hard work, but with featureless free versions it does nothing to entice me to use them. This is another such plugin.
A coming soon plugin is one that I'll only use once or twice, which is why I can't justify the cost. Perhaps these are more suited to pro designers who use them a lot.
