So far so Good. But needs updating - buy buttons for Amazon Kindle, Createsapce, Goodreads etc
I set this up on an author's website and found it easy to use and customize. The support is good. I would definitely use it again if I set up another author website.
It seems to be a good plugin, but it did not work on my website. I´ve installed and built all book pages, but afterwards the links didn´t work out. After so many tries, I decided to uninstall. Sorry!
If you have several titles, this plugin really saves time. Plus, the built in taxonomies are great for sorting books by genre, series and author. I was able to Create a catalogue page with a few code tweeks. Combined with easy digital downloads, this plug in makes selling your stuff pretty slick.
I am sorry to say this but the utility level of this plugin in my scale is about 3-4 (out of 10). The purpose of this plugin is simply to create a book post type, which will give you a short code for each of the books, so that when using it in a page or post you will see the book image and a buy button, which links to the book at Amazon (or other stores that you put in).
You could simply create a page with the image/s of your book/s and add a "buy at amazon" link next to them.
The css also seems to conflict with bootstrap "code" selector, overwriting its rules.
Nice and clean plugin.
I've gone through a lot of plugins, but I have to say that this one seems quite awesome. It was intuitive enough that I didn't have to go searching to figure out what to do; I managed very quickly to put up each of the books I've written without fuss or issue.
The only suggestion for improvement that I would make would be to allow us (the end users) an easy way to change the titles of the book links. For example, my book is not available at Audible; however, it is available on Kindle. Unfortunately, I could see no easy way to simply re-purpose the Audible link for a Kindle link. If I could assign the URL titles as well as the URL values, I'd give this plugin 10 stars... if I could!
This is so much easier than entering book info on standard Posts or Pages, and looks professional and polished.
I'm an author who's a former graphic designer, and now a web developer by day, and it's not easy to find plugins, themes, etc. that work just like I want out of the box. This is one of those rare exceptions. Even in cases where it needs tweaking, the plugin developers provide easy to customize themeing (for example, on a publisher site I developed that had navigation down the left side instead of the top). But for most sites, Totally Booked works and looks great, and requires no more than a couple lines of CSS to make the Buy Now popup match your theme's colors. Even so, its default colors of gold and white will look good with many, if not most, themes.
I recently constructed a website, [ link deleted, please don't post links in the reviews ] for the purpose of displaying my new book. I found the "Totally Booked" plug-in and added it to the site. It is a fantastic plug-in and does everything I needed, such as hook-ups to Amazon and the ability to add other sites such as Smashwords, when I need to. The support provided by Ben to fine-tune it to my website theme (which is the Genesis Decor theme of Studiopress), has resulted in a very professional look. I highly recommend this plug in for its features and most importantly, the followup support.
I'm a newbie when it comes to plugins and WordPress but this plugin helped me in the development of my site just as I want it.
This is GREAT!
