First of all: thanks for providing this plugin!
+ Double opt in (doi) works, what is needed in Germany
+ Email messages and frontend messages are configurable
+ Nice overwiev of all subscriptions
+ Management page for users and admins is okay
What should be optimized / fixed:
- Using tags is quite buggy as some tags are not replaced in templetes
... tag [post_title] is not replaced in subscription confirmation page
... tags are not HTMLifyd in frontend templates (except in comment form). Is this wanted?
- Using manage page (see https://ansas-meyer.de/abonnements/ as example) is buggy too:
... accepts empty or non-valid emails... The email "email" is even saved in database as subscription
... after submittin this form the email template is displayed (but without the link)... there should be an own template text for this confirmation page.
Ce plugin est pas si mal que ça,ne vous emmelez pas les pinceaux avec les permaliens et c'est ok!
I love this because users can manage their comment subscriptions/notifications on my site and not on another (like Jetpack comments.)
But once your site gets big and comments go into the 100's it can be a huge problem. I've had to change mail servers and IP's a few times because eventually all the emails sent out get the notice of providers spam filters. One person can get over 100 new comment emails every day if they subscribe to one of my posts for new comments. After a while it's overwhelming to some and they scream at me to unsubscribe them. It would be great if there was an option to get daily updates rather than instant notifications but there isn't with this plugin.
The notification email for replies, it only sends the new reply and doesn't reference what was being replied to. I hope that is eventually a feature because, again for sites like mine that sends out hundreds of notifications a day, the receiver may not remember what they replied to, it would be nice as a reminder for them instead of having to come to the site to do so.
I've used this plugin for the last 4+ years and am kind of stuck with it after 25,000+ comment subscriptions. I feel like the plugin is stuck in 2003 mode (feature wise) and hope it catches up to 2016 soon.
