I'm convinced it's a scam to make you buy the full version
By , for WP 4.0

I installed Spam Master today to try to get rid of a few spam users that were registering each day.

After I installed the plugin, I got HUNDREDS of spam users trying to register.

I am totally convinced that this is scam, they send you more spam so that you pay for the full version.

TERRIBLE

I'm still getting a lot of spam!
By , for WP 4.3.1

Installed it over a week ago, if anything I'm getting more spam now than I used to! Maybe there's something wrong with my settings but I can't imagine what it would be, I've been through them all.

I'm using Free Protection.

Bugged but...
By , for WP 3.8.1

I installed the plugin on a Network platform.

I actived the plugin as Network and settings are avalaible - Tah's good because centralized.

BUT, unable to set key-words on Personalized words... Nugged :(

Also, I actived the plugin only on a blog.

BUT, I don't have rights to accede to settings (I am Super admin) - Bugged :(

What's hapened...

Sorry...

The author learned me that the plugin is not network so I reajust my rating.

Good Stuff

I hate SPAM (who doesn't). Does an excellent job of blocking nuisance posts and registrations. Just wish it was less expensive to get the pro version. :(

No Change In Spam Count
By , for WP 3.8

After having gone through the doc and doing my very best to set this up, spam didn't change at all. I gave it two weeks and continued to get 5-100 spam comments a day - most of which were from spinners that still had the usual word options and repeated phrases in them - the stuff most other spam catchers block. I had high hopes, but it just didn't work for my site at all. Thanks anyway :)

EXACTLY what I was looking for!
By , for WP 3.8

I have been looking for a plugin that allowed me to block throw away domain registrations and manage all of the users I currently have on our site. Of alllllllll the plugins I have tried, NONE have compared to Spam Master. Not only was I able to SUCCESSFULLY block the throw away domains from registering (other plugins claim to do this but none worked), I am also able to view all of my existing registered users and I was able to find and delete a few that were not authorized.

Thank you TechGasp for a truly excellent plugin that exceeded my expectations... I cannot even tell you how pleased I am with you and your product.

I just wanted to say thank you for the recent improvements in your upgrade. I had a problem a couple of weeks ago with incorrect blocking of a specific domain and was wishing for a white list feature... And Voila! You guys are on it and I appreciate it. Spam Master is quite possibly the most effective wordpress plugin I have ever purchased.

I sure wish other plugin developers would take a look at your team and learn from you... You just keep being awesome and keep impressing me... thank you!

New beefed-up version for wordpress 3.8

Not sure what his does or how it works
By , for WP 3.6.1

At $25.00 it's pretty steep for spam protection when there are free ones out there.

The free version seems to be plug-n-play, no configuration. It says it's blocking me from "4 threats" but you can't see what those threats are. I don't know where it gets it's "spam list" from and looking at their website I don't think that information is available.

You can't create your own blacklist - which you can do with a couple of free plugins.

For the money they need to give you a lot more - and be very specific about how it works, where they get their spam list, how often it's updated, needs to show blocked registrations and you should have the ability of manually allowing a blocked registration by clicking an "approval" link.

This is the spam filters work in the corporate world - Barracuda, Spamstops here, etc…they block emails, you get a list of each one that was blocked and the ability to click on it and mark it "not spam".
