The best responsive WordPress slider plugin. Made lite and free.
Getting kind of tired of these plugins that provide nothing unless you pay. If you want to play in the open source market, provide function. If you want to make money on you plugin, be honest and state it up front.
Says "Usage of a custom post type to create an unlimited number of WordPress sliders", yet seems to just be a basic image slider. Can't point it to a custom post type for it to be turned into a slider. If that is a pro feature don't pretend it is part of the lite version. And if there is no way to see if the plugin works without buying it, why would I buy it?
I bought a pro licence, because Soliloquy promised a feature-rich Slider that is easy to implement and especially easy to use.
It definitely IS easy to use ... if the features you need for your project actually work. I had to file more than one support-query (all about bugs in the plugin) and Tim only once managed to meet the promised timeframe of 24 hours (he didn't manage to fix the bug though).
Since then one support-query got lost (he never answered repeated follow-up-questions about that one), another was answered 2 weeks late (I had to go with another slider-plugin to finish the project) and the last one remains unsolved to this day.
Unfortunately I have to say that I still couldn't find an alternative. If you're only looking for a basic slider for your WordPress-sites, go with Soliloquy. If you actually want to use and combine the various features of Soliloquy you're going to have a bad time.
I've used half a dozen different plugins of this type (Gallery/Slideshow) in recent years and have just tried Solioquy Lite responsive Slider. I'd seen the claims that this was the "Best WP Slider" etc, so I had good expectations.
Sadly it did not live up to the claims, and I have quickly deleted it and gone back to a free Slider that is more customisable, easier to use, and has proved reliable and stable. For details of what people do not like about Solioquy, just read the 1 star reviews (always a good idea when evaluating possible plugins to use).
This plugin looks great, and the authors talk a big game, but this plugin is terrible. Don't waste your money, go elsewhere. The great packaging masks a plugin that is very short on functionality and is incredibly difficult to customize. The very worst part, for me, is the fact that you cannot duplicate slideshows, to pass settings along to multiple slideshows. So, say, you are buildign a website with multiple photo galleries. You have to build each of them from the ground up. I had to write down my settings on paper and copy them into each new gallery. Though this may sound trite, I find this to be incredibly lazy on the part of the developers. This is not my only complaint, but it is the only one I feel like elucidating at this time. I never leave reviews but am compelled to tell all of you to STEER CLEAR of Soliloquy!
waste of time. Installed it and it doesn't even work.
I purchased the developer version to get access to, what they say, are several cool features. Well, none of them worked.
Also, no support. I emailed twice and got zero response.
We'll see how the refund request goes.
After two minutes of installing this, I'll never be using this plugin again! In order to use the media manager, you have to upgrade to the pro version. That was all it took to deter me away. What a rip off.
The fact that you must pay for the pro version just to use the WordPress media manager to select images is absolutely inexcusable. This is a common feature across practically all plugins/themes that manage images.
I will no longer be using this plugin. There are plenty of other slider plugins that work just as well (or better) than this.
Blatant money grab, all there is to it.
This plugin is so poorly written it only has support for one slider even though it's supposed to allow for multiple sliders! The plugin author has been notified of the bug that causes the only cache _transient__sol_cache to ever be written or updated, vs the individual slider data being written and read: _transient__sol_cache_###
