Only free upload CSV map
By ,

This is the only free map locator that allows you to upload a full CSV file. That is literally the only reason I'm using this. Every single feature they claim works perfectly I've had to fiddle with to get to work properly.

It's also the only plugin that gives me problems while updating to the newer versions of wordpress.

Poorly Documented EVEN with Premium Support
By , for WP 4.2.2

EXTREMELY Poorly Documented.
Buggy, non-user-friendly.
Not for professional use - expect a lot of wasted time trying to make it look semi-professional

Do not work anymore. No support and no updates.
By , for WP 4.0

This looked nice but to old code and no updates or support. Dont work in mobile devices and slows regular sites down overall loading time.

Works for me, don't be put off
By , for WP 3.9.2

Don't be too put off by negative reviews - it works reasonably well out of the box so I'm glad I tried it.

I can't speak for the support as I've not needed it, but documentation seems to be lacking. I'm loathe to criticise something that's free though, so give it a try.

For others looking to use this plugin, be aware that you can alter the display of the search form with shortcode attributes - it took a lot of digging around to find this, and doesn't seem to be documented on the WordPress.org site or the plugin's own website.

Instead of [simplemap] you can use something like [simplemap search_form_cols=4 search_fields='labelbr_street||labelbr_city||labelbr_state||labelbr_zip||labeltd_distance||empty||empty||submit||empty||empty||empty']. This would change the number of columns in the search input table to 4, and then long parameter specifies which table cells to drop in the inputs.

There are other attributes you can change - just take a look at the defaults in \classes\simplemap.php around line 2318.

Great Store locator plugin
By , for WP 3.9.1

This really is the best one out there. Once you tweak a few things here and there you can really get the locator looking nice.

Was great, no longer supported.
By , for WP 3.9.1

We bought this about 2 years ago and within a month, they told us there was no longer going to be any support. I'm fine with that, but they should shut down the website and stop selling it to people.

Poor support & doesn't work with php 5.4+
By , for WP 3.9.1

The support of this plugin is shocking (just look at the support section) and it doesn't work with newer versions of php (5.4+), which you can't get any support on!

I would recommend avoiding this one and look elsewhere.

Developers are non-responsive
By , for WP 3.5.1

The developers of this plug don't respond to anything. The stated 4 updates a year don't happen.

It's a shame, this plugin used to be great, and worth every penny. Simple changes and suggestions go unheeded.

SimpleMap Overall Quality
By ,

This plugin is far easier to install and setup than any other locator plugin I have tried. I had it up and running within an hour and added over 700 locations weigh the import feature. It's amazing. I would recommend it to everyone.

Refusal to Support
By , for WP 3.6.1

Had been using this plugin for almost 8 months on the same hosting environment and it worked perfectly well. After the WordPress update to 3.6 it began to stop loading the locations data. I called for support but the IT guy told me that it was Google's fault, they were denying my requests because of the hosting environment. (which had been working previously) I try another plugin and everything worked great! why would that be? because its the simplemaps plugin that was failing, not Google's API which works for billions of people every day! your simple little plugin barely services a thimble compared to that. And instead of helping to track down the problem they spent less than 30 seconds telling me i had to contact Google support instead. Gee thanks! Learn from my horrible mistake and don't waste your time on a plugin that could randomly stop working on you and a support center that abandons you and claims its not their problem leaving you to do hours worth of transfer work to a more reliable plugin, just start there to begin with.
