Embeds Ads
By , for WP 3.9

I just noticed this plugin has been injecting affiliate links onto my post pages for god knows how long. It never used to do this and I never was informed this was going to happen. Totally unacceptable.

Great for free

I would say perfect except 1 thing that bothers me. Often when i post something, posts go public in facebook faster than opengraph gets the correct info, resulting in blank picture links. I tried the randomize time option but i think it doesnt work.

Anyway great plugin!

nice, but

hidden affiliate links
By , for WP 4.0

apparently they change our links on our website to affiliate links so they can make money off our sites, not nice!!!

Brilliant plugin and excellent support!

An extremely useful and versatile plugin - took a little getting used to at first but most helpful service from the Shareaholic Helpdesk gets 5 stars!

Beware: Shareaholic's own ads shown to your visitors
By , for WP 4.0

By default, Shareaholic now earns money from ads on your site, and doesn't inform you of this unless you happen to click the "Edit Monetization Settings" at the bottom of your settings page, where you will see that Shareaholic's ads are turned on "for you."

Shareholic says, for people who happen to discover this:

"Revenue generated from these ads supports Shareaholic so we can continue providing free apps to our valued publishers. To turn this feature off, move toggle to the left."

Also, (from: http://support.shareaholic.com/hc/en-us/articles/201770175)
"You may have noticed that there is now an ad in the "Thank you for sharing!" window that appears after your readers share content from your site...We're displaying these targeted ads* to generate revenue, so we can continue offering free apps that help you expand your reach and make money too!"

Simply posting "You may have noticed" after the fact is not how this works, Shareaholic. If you want to sell a plugin, then sell it, but don't "pee on our legs and tell us it's raining."

Imagine a family-friendly site unknowingly hosting x-rated ads or a health site advertising unhealthy products to its readers thanks to a seemingly innocent sharing plugin. Or for that matter, hosting competitor ads without ever being aware of having lost that business. And imagine if every plugin operated this way what a mess every site would be.

Shareaholic had its benefits, but I won't use any plugin by a developer who slips ads or other undisclosed "special features" into updates without visible notice to users. How do we know there's nothing else hidden in here that we haven't "noticed"?

It's a Tracking junk! See here >>
By , for WP 4.0

The main purposes of this plugin:

1. Track your users as much as possible no matter u turned of or on.
2. Sell your visitor data with third parties.
3. Increase the the total size of your website with various junk scripts, Leading to slow loading.
4. Run tons of extra Java Scripts to make your site and users screwed.
5. They use !important with many of their CSS rules, so have no control over their share buttons.
6. If you are using this on your site, check your one of the posts with http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/ and you will find how scary this plugin is and how much it contributed to slow your site.

Thanks for reading and I hope the author(s) of the plugin read it.

Mixed Feelings
By , for WP 4.0

I have extremely mixed feelings about this plugin. On one hand, I like the plugin and what it offers. On the other hand, it comes across as rather presumptuous. I am sick of having advertising rammed down my throat.

I know advertising can be a necessary evil when it comes to maintaining any free service. I already use advertising on my blog, but that is -my- choice and I have full control over the advert content I allow on my website. It's incredibly annoying to log onto my website to check something and find an unwanted, unrelated advert present in a conspicuous place.

I understand that the logistics would make it impossible for them to notify all users of the new advertising features, but I do not understand why it is an opt out service when it should be opt in.

Super handige tool!
