Sleazy ads and hijacked links
By ,

Two years ago it was a highly recommended plugin. So the devs got greedy. My mum's blog and a few small clients now have weight-loss ads on every post. Good riddance.

Worst SUPPORT ever
By , for WP 4.2.2

Actually like the pluigin its pretty cool

But their support is awful bordering on don't even care, emailed them well over 5 times given a ticket number and never heard from them since.

Spoiled the whole experience of using their little app etc and their website.

Don't get sucked in
By , for WP 4.2.2

**I CLICKED ONE STAR!!**

I'm not happy that in the description Shareaholic provides floating toolbars, but when I take the time to install it and try to set those up on my site, I find they are NOT available. Well, not unless I create an account on their website. Don't get sucked in to this "false advertisement". They shouldn't even be allowed to list floating toolbars in the description if it's not part of the default plugin, at least not without a warning.

Thanks for wasting my time, Shareaholic!

DO NOT INSTALL THIS PLUGIN
By , for WP 4.2.2

Shareaholic injects affiliate links. Our database website had some "viagra-alike" URLs redirect infection. When un-installed website ran faster. They work with cti.w55c.net, considered as a malicious site --> https://www.virustotal.com/en/domain/cti.w55c.net/information/

Removed from all my websites and clients

Used to be a good plugin but is now full of bloat, injects affiliate links without asking and hidden affiliate cookie stuffing iframes.

No thanks!

shit plugin killed my DB

This piece of crap just killed my entire DB. WordPress can not establish connection anymore.

Still one of the nicest except ...
By , for WP 4.2.2

This plugin does the best and most comprehensive job of all the similar ones I tried. You do have to watch it like a hawk every time you update it to keep it honest if you are not wanting sharaholic affiliate link rewrite features.

It has one fairly major flaw that I knock off a star for. It adds share buttons to custom post types with no way to prevent except checking boxes on every single custom post individually. Fortunately there is an easy fix. Add the below code to your theme functions.php (or your own plugin if you want to be theme independant). You can modify the post_type test to suit your needs. Mine are to only have share buttons on post and page types.

add_action('the_content', 'sharaholic_fix_types', 1);
function sharaholic_fix_types($content) {
	global $post;
	remove_action('the_content', array('ShareaholicPublic', 'draw_canvases'));
    if ($post->post_type != 'post' && $post->post_type != 'page')
    	return $content;
    return ShareaholicPublic::draw_canvases($content);
}
stay away! unethical plugin!! steals your $$$!!
By , for WP 4.2.2

Stay away from this plugin! No matter how many features or how pretty it is, this plugin was designed to STEAL MONEY FROM YOUR SITE. They will automatically opt you in to rewrite your links on your site with their affiliate links. Try opting out and it will opt you back in automatically with the next update (the most updated plugin on WP btw).

When your site has 100's of thousands of hits a month and you spend marketing dollars to drive more traffic to your site and carefully construct your own affiliate links on your own site, it is infuriating to find out that Shareaholic rewrites links to their own affiliate links.

And their staff will reply here and come up with a million excuses saying it's for your own good. But truth is they'll opt you in without your consent and rewrite your links without you knowing... then where's the earnings they promised they were doing for your own good?!?? Oh you had to set up the site on their site before the plugin did the rewrites. So all those affiliate traffic they gathered off your site without your consent is all theirs. It's just plain evil!

Stay away! DON'T SUPPORT THIS UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR!!
